Broken stem

All I can say is shit. I was trying to LST my top (1st week into flowering) and the stem snapped. The plant's over 4 feet, I topped it almost 2 weeks ago, but one of the side branches began to grow as part of the main stem it seems, but now it's completely off, do you think the plant will be ok?

You're supposed to start LSTing during the early vegatative phase of the plants life, for that very reason. As the plant grows, and gets stronger throughout its life, then breakage will become a problem. If I were you I'd tie a splint around the part of the plant that snapped, and put it back under 18/6 for a week or so to see how it's doing. It should be alright, but I wouldn't try to bend it at all after it heals.

My intention was never to LST the plant, but as the plant keeps growing and I'm running out of vertical room, I had to do something. I tried tying a splint type thing around the stem so it would heal but that's when it snapped completely off. Here's a picture, not such great quality but it gives an idea of what happened. The piece snapped off so I cut the stem a bit lower from where the snap occurred.

The plant had alternating branches off of the main stem until I topped it. But the branch that snapped had branches growing in pairs, so maybe I'm worrying too much?

I would think that the branch that broke will just not grow. like if a human losses a limb doesnt mean we die, right? Thats a weird comparison and I dont know, its my own opinion though.

Whew, I'm relieved, the plant looks the same and doesn't appear to have any signs of trauma
