Very sick plants :-( pls help

Hey guys, I need your help.
My plants have just started their second week of 12/12 but about a month ago, the leaves at the bottom of the plants started to turn yellow and drop off. Since then, they have continued to get worse - especially in the past week, where alot more leaves have been affected. In addition to the yellowing, they have developed scorch-like spots which eventually get so bad they all join together, before the leaf completely dies. In addition to the yellowing and spots, one of the plant's leaves are curling in at the tips.

After investigating possible causes of these symptoms, I've tried using Epsom Salts (for the Mg), and also a new food recommended by my local growing shop (Plagron Alga-Growth 4-6-8), but neither have worked. Previously the plants were being fed a multi-purpose Miracle Grow(24-8-16) once bi-weekly.

The plants are receiving light from a 400W HPS lamp, which is hung around 20 inches above the top of the plants, and the average room temperature is 23C.

They have had Evian mineral water since germination, but I haven't been checking the pH of the water, as I was told Evian water and the like would be fine, if not perfectly balanced for growing. They were receiving 200ml each plant, per day for about 3 weeks - until I thought the curling could have been overwatering... So last week I reduced the amount of water to 100ml for each plant, per day (This hasn't improved nor worsened te situation).

I have enclosed photos and numbered them, as not all plants are suffering in the same way.
(n.B. I could only upload 5 pics so have chosen the ones I thought which best displayed the problems.)

Thanks in advance for your help

It looks as though you have a severe N deficiency. People tend to think that since they put their plants into flowering, they no longer need N. Not so.

N deficiencies start out by older leaves turning yellow and necrotic. The eventually die and drop off.

Have you been fertilizing with N regularly? If so, what brand, and now many PPM are you using?

Hey CannabisMaximus

Thanks for the quick reply the only feed they have been getting is the miracle grow 24-8-16 once every 2 weeks sometimes everyweek.

I got new feed recommended by the growing shop (Plagron Alga-Growth 4-6-8) but thats got less N in it.

This is my first time growing sorry not sure what PPM is.

Sorry to say but, Miracle Grow is bad choice for Marijuana. You need something with more micro-nutrients in it. A product called FLORA NOVA by GENERAL HYDROPONICS is a better choice. I fertilize my plants about every other watering. Marijuana can use up a lot of nutrients when it grows, and it needs a constant supply of ferts. Try to fertilize every other watering, but at HALF the recommended dosage. They should green up in about a week.

PPM stands for parts per million. PPM metes work by measuring the amount of ferts. in the water. You can get a decent on for under 20 bucks. It is an essential tool for growing marijuana successfully.

1. pot is way too small for a plant in flower, and the plant has eated up / used up all the nutrients that
was in the Miricle grow soil.

2. Pot is too small for the plant, its rootbound.

Transplant into bigger pot with soil containing nutes or non nuted soil and feed it general nutrients 10-10-10 etc.

Since yu already having some sort of success with miricle grow suggest you just repot it in that.

Not sure what the run off is going get a ph tester tomorrow and check but the ph of the water is 6.5 according to the bottle.

DierWolf

I never planted in miracle soil it was just a all purpose compost. The feed I was given them was miracle grow
What size pots would you recommend and what soil?

4-5 gallon pots are best. I recommend FoxFarm Grow Big and Tiger Bloom nutes. And if you can't afford a digital ph reader, then buy the cheap ph test kit. Get the ph of your water close to 6.5

Thanks Whodi

My local supply shop was closed today so tomorrow I'm going get some 5 gallon pots.

Also going get some new soil and a ph tester lol.

I'm going get some nut's 10-10-10 as sujested by Dierwolf.

Does anyone know if I'm feeding with 10-10-10 nut's how I go about it? Do I just follow the instructions on the box and feed at full strength once a week or whatever or do I feed differnt? ie twice a week at half strength.

Thanks for all the help guys

yeah they are pretty bad lol its a shame aswell they looked great just a few weeks ago :-(

Own fault really had a feeling the pots were to small but they just shot up really quick.

You know when I take them out the pots to replant them do I have to remove all the mud till there is only roots then untangle them and then replant?

Just read the quide and that was talking about the root ball but not really sure what that is lol.

But yeah will take pics

when i grew in soil, my first feed after i flipped them, was with veg nutes. i felt that this one last high n feed, would serve them well in flower. one thing i would suggest to you for future reference, let your plants dry up between feedings/waterings. you shouldn't be watering every day.

Hey

Guys well finally got plants repotted.

Not sure they if the new pots are 4 gallons the guy in the shop never knew either but they are the biggest I could find.

The soil I just used the same brand I used last time as it worked really well before they got root boundand the ones in the hydro shop were like 15 quid for 50 litres so would have needed to bags £30 quid :-S

Have bought nut's but going hold off abit till I use it see how they go. Also bought LIQUID OXYGEN but abit worrie about using it after reading the bottle lol.

Ok now the big question should I keep them on the 12/12 light (which they have been on for a week and a half) or send them back into Veg 16/8 light to pick up abit?

Pics as promised
