whats your water PH, soil PH and water runoff PH

magnesium lockout & maybe more (manganese???)

DO NOT ADD Mg/EPSOM SALTS OR ANYTHING till you get us PH

if your PH IS off (high) epsom salts will make it worse

you need to buy a digital PH pen to test this, if cash flow is an issue go to any place that carries aquarium supplies and get a cheap PH test kit

testing your water is obvious (depending on the PH testers)
the runoff is the water tha runs out of the bottom of the pot when you water, If you watered with say 6.8 ph water and the runoff water is tested to 5.0 you have acid soil, and this would need correcting

get the PH tester its self explanitory OK, then get back to us with the PH

to experienced growers!!........please help

Interested to see answers on this issue.. i have what looks the same, black dots seems to be getting worse also =(
my setup is hydro (NFT), Ph 5.7. canna veg nutes, temps 25 -29, humidity low.
grown with great success previously, and i have ruled out nute def and ph.
after some research am starting to think it could be botrytis (grey mold) ya ya i thought that only affected denser buds not young vegging plants, and my humidity is low???

but i think that i had the beginnings of it (black spots) when the little'uns where elsewhere and assumed was a nute def or ph prob(also was higher humidity but only 50-60) and was eager to get em (3" rockwool cubes - well-rooted clones) in my nft tray. (which has a large res and is easier to keep nutes /ph correct, allround better ventilated room etc)

so a few days/ week in the nft veggin and good growth,, just these black dots seem to be getting worse!!!!

in some cases spreading over whole leaves (which i removed) then i gave a neem treatment spray.. which at the moment is my planned course of action?? that and praying and hoping they will somehow magically disappear =)

i really need help on this... if it is botrytis or similar fungal infection i need to get in there quick and remove all traces (lots of leaves with just a few specs) oh no!!!!

but if not a fungal prob then what else??
Unfotunately no camera at the moment so no pics but any help would be greatly appreciated..

are your plants also displaying the nutrient def. that this plant is? clorisis (yellowing)between the veins?
this plant suffering from nutrient def. potassium and Mg def. maybe more?depends if this is a lockout, which Im sure it is he just fed it, I was waiting for more info from the dude, but its been days.
oh well

OffKorse, I dont work with hydro, but I have seen this from too stong nutes in hydro, there are some sharp hydro guys on the board , if they dont see this start a new thread if no other replies

no yellow!!

no, my plant all look good apart from the blackish dots, which seems to be spreading and killing leaves -but no yellow) ive grown this strain in same setup before so i think i got nute /ph/ temps correct...
just thinking its botrytis, damn if was nutes etc could fix that easier than stripping of affected leaves.
its not bugs,, i had spidermite in the past =( so know what to look for in that respect.

any other ideas ??
help appreciated dude!!

the info that you left out (about no clorisis or def.) makes it a different isssue entirely

Phosphorus (P) deficiency during vegatative growth. Many people mistaken this for a fungus, and leaves the color dull greyish to a black, with a very brittle texture later on.

Get us a pic somehow, we have some good diagnositions here, most issues get resolved

poor pics but....

the first was maybe the worst of em.. took it of yesterday before neeming

the second is the worst of what was there just now (poor quality pics, sorry)
and was just a tip, so cut off.

i have smaller dots more like the original thread starters pics, maybe a bit less of them but on a fair few leaves on 4-5 plants.

additional info: 7 x 8-9 inch tall young plants 2-3 weeks old, 1 week in nft.
only 4 or 5 plants have some dots others none!

notice just now when took pic that the as the black spots grow they are becoming more discoloured red/brown.

Also remembered that 1-2 days into nft i made a balls-up with res solution, noticed ph was a bit high 6.1 so went to bring down to 5.5 - 5.7 and... oops shit too much 4.5 4.2 going down shit, quickly pulled feed from tray... took another 10 - 20 mins til i was flushing thru at 5.7 was only brief but for 10-20 sec was pumping in v low ph!!! Another factor. though dots were present before this...

hmm really am hoping it is that ph prob and that as they continue in the correct ph they will recover, ah and the more affected plants are nearer the feed intake......
though its been 2-3 days since the ph accident (stonehead clumsy me) they still worsened despite being at 5.7 since. could be explained perhaps by the rockwool cubes absorbing some of that super low ph, i didnt remove cubes for a thorough ph adjusted soak. but im gonna =)
maybe as i go through all this im figuring it out!!! But i DID have these spots before, and they were not subjected to such ph or nute extremes!!!

dunno, what ya think ganga?
sorry for long post and poor pic quality (new camera should arrive next week)
any other second opinions??

all help appreciated.

toke on....

I still think thats PH and nute lockout are in play here. that first pic looks similar to phosphours def. in the vegatative state. PH swings will lockout phosphours and sounds like you had some problems

Im not versed enough in hydro, I think chimera grows hyro, if you dont get second opinions from some hydro gurus today start a new post so its seen tomorrow
