Slight Change in Leaf colour and Burnt tips

Hi Guys,

Unfortunately I havent got a Digi camera so I cant post any pictures, soI'll describe what going on as best as I can.

I have two, two week old Skunk Number One plants on the go. They are both in large compost bags. I have a 400w HPS Light which is on 24H and an oscilating fan on 12H. My grow room is approx 8ftx8ft and 10ft at the ceiling.

They have been under the lights since the second set of 3 fingered leaves appeared. being careful I have set the lights at 2 and half to 3 feet above the plants until they grow enough to lower the light to 1 and a half foot.

One plant is growing slightly bigger than the other and I initially put this down to the fact that it sprouted 3 days before the second., however, the smaller plant is now showing a slight discolour ration in the leaves. By this I mean that the inner part of the leaves have turned a slightly paler shade of green. There is also appears to be a slight brown and dry burning on two of the bottom leaves.

Is this because I feed them nutes to early? I gave them a very light feed at one week! I am using miracle grow.

Should I just be feeding them distilled water until they have matured some more?
Or do I have a more serious problem?

I will try and post some pictures asap but until then any help you guys can pass my way would be appreciated. We pay £200 for an ounze of soap over here and £20 a gramme of weed. Please help me have a cheap Christmas.

Over and Toke!
Burdbrain

Thumbs up Hey Burdbrain.

If i was you i would ditch the miracle grow. I used it to start but it brought me nothin but problems. Since then i have changed to the 'Canna' range of products and believe me my growing is in a different league now! For vegatative growth i use the Terra vegga and two weeks (approx) into flowering switch to the Terra Flores. If your compost already has nutrients in it and they are in decent size pots to start with you shoulnt have to fertilize for 4 weeks after planting as there are plenty of nutrients in the soil already. I think this is where your brown burnt bits are coming from. Miracle grow is highly concentrated and soooooo easy to over indulge. Hope this is some help to ya bra

Oh yeah, forgot bout ya second question. Dont use sparkling water on the roots as it is oxygen the roots need. I suggest some 'Oxy plus' which is an addative which enriches the water with oxygen. I have heard of people spraying the leaves of the plants with carbonated water but have never heard whether it actually makes a difference. Personally i dont bother. Once you get the canna products on the go the plants will grow splendidly on their own ok chap!!

As youve been told no nutes for the youngens, also compost can be too hot for seedlings aswell, depending on the compost

Thumbs up Cheers Guys

Thanks Guys,

I revisited my set up. Since my babies are doing quite well in the size stakes (they're actually two tomorrow) I have moved them closer to the lights. I noticed I was a little conservative with my original estimate. They were 4 1/2ft away and the grow bags were on a cold concrete floor!

I have since raised the grow bags off of the ground by nearly three feet and placed them on ply wood sheeting. I have also added drainage holes to the bags and I amflushing them out with plain water ie just plain feed when needed.

It seems to be clearing put'ill keep you posted.

Thanks for the adviced. I will see if I can get some canna over here. I'm gonna take some pictures over the weekend so you can see em.

They looking good for anewbie grow (ell except for the slight prob on one!)
