| last time buying sensi seeds for the last 4 yrs i used sensi seed but feel its time to change as the germ rate i have been getting is very poor, 6 weeks ago i started 20 seeds 10 SUPER SKUNK and 10 JACK HERER they all popped when it was time to sex them i had 3 SUPER SKUNK females and 0 JACK HERER females .i spent over £120 uk pound on the 20 seeds at the uk hemp expo in telford for 3 female seeds . the 3 plants are in 12/12 atm im on week 2 . i started the 20 seeds wanting up to 9 female for my new grow tent , but theres no point only putting 3 plants in the big space the reply from sensi Dear Cannabis Enthusiast, Unfortunately, the ratio of females to males is one aspect of seed production that is completely beyond the control of cannabis breeders. Sensi Seed Bank advises customers to expect 50/50 female/male (though most end up with more like 65% females), but any proportion is possible, including 100% of either gender. There is no way to tell a male seed from a female seed, and no way to increase the proportion of females when producing seeds or growing plants. It’s simply the luck of the draw. Or force majeur, if you prefer. Thus, Sensi Seed Bank is unable to compensate you for your outcome. The possibility of receiving a high number of males is simply a fact of life when growing cannabis from seed. The best way to avoid this problem is to keep one or more females-from-seed as a mother plant and make clones, which will always turn out female. Another way around this problem is to use feminized seeds (which are now available from the White Label Seed Co. http://www.sensiseeds.com/feminisedseeds/1s86.html). Feminized seeds can be relied upon to produce female plants, but they do have disadvantages, such as the fact that such females are not suitable as mother plants (essentially, one feminized seed equals one plant, instead of dozens or hundreds, as is possible when cloning). Feminized seeds also tend to cost more than natural seeds. Given the choice, most experienced growers will opt for natural seeds over feminized. In large outdoor plantations, growers find that on colder, drier years, the proportion of males increases slightly, but this difference is seen as a few extra males per thousand plants. Even very adverse grow-room conditions should not have a drastic effect on female/male ratio. On general principles, it’s a good idea to give your germinating seeds and young plants the best possible conditions, which should give an overall boost your percentage of females. Optimal conditions are warm (21º-25ºC), humid (60%+) moist (but not saturated) and bright (a 400w MH lamp or at least 200w of fluorescent lighting). We assume that if you’re growing a higher-priced variety, you saved one or more of your females as a mother plant, in order to make cuttings (clones). In this way, even a single female plant can produce dozens or hundreds of female plants, all of which are an exact copy of the original mother. It’s impossible to predict the outcome of the other packets of seeds you have ordered (as one result does not influence the probability of the next), but we would not be surprised if you have a higher-than-expected proportion of females the next timeyou grow. Cannabis often seems to have a sense of humor in this regard... hours (9am to 5pam CET) – We will be more than happy to discuss this with you in person! PS Offices remain closed on Tuesday 1st January 2008. Warmest Regards, Sensi Seed Bank not happy at all also emailed the art codes off the boxs |

Thats nice but why did it require the force of public humiliation in this forum for them to do "the right thing". Do you really think that had you not posted this that they would have tried to work things out? If you think they would have then why did they send that long email of crap in the first place? They use the crap if they can get by with it. It would sure be nice to see them publicly state a change in policy making some kind of guarantee on their product. They won't. You are probably 1 in 100 that didnt just eat whatever they had to feed you. Thanks for keeping us updated.

what u all think of this?? had it last nite from sensi seeds ( admin team of the sensi website ) threads Y'know, I think you're very lucky to get a pack of seeds out of this, You've emailed around Xmas, and given ... what, a day or a few hours for a reply? Then started up a thread about what crappy customer service you've received. Then, a couple of hours later you realise that our customer service is good and you're suddenly happy. Great. How about a little patience? To make a few things clear for you: 1) Sensi offers no guarantees on seeds. We're usually very understanding when it comes to genuine complaints, but our written position is that we offer no guarantees. 2) You had no problems with seed germination. Everything came up, and of those there were too many males. This is beyond the control of the breeder. Again, we offer absolutely no guarantees of gender ratio from natural seeds, but we try to keep customers happy. 3) If anything influences the proportion of males, it's the handling and conditions given to them by the grower during germination and early growth. Bad handling will not automatically cause all plants to turn out male, but experienced growers rarely get an excess of males(or if they do, such random bad luck seems to occur much less frequently). 4) Being able to tell us the article number of a pack of seeds is not proof of purchase. We don't often accept packaging as proof, so you've been lucky a fourth time. All in all, you're welcome! Whether or not you decide to buy Sesni Seeds again, all the best with your Jack Herer. Treat them nice. just to make thinks clear i sent the first email to sensi info on the 19th dec (what i posted on there thread) for the last 4 yrs i used sensi seed but feel its time to change as the germ rate i have been getting is very poor, 6 weeks ago i started 20 seeds 10 SUPER SKUNK and 10 JACK HERER they all popped when it was time to sex them i had 3 SUPER SKUNK females and 0 JACK HERER females .i spent over £120 uk pound on the 20 seeds at the uk hemp expo in telford for 3 female seeds . the 3 plants are in 12/12 atm im on week 2 . i was going to take clones from the jack and find a keeper but cant as i got 0 grls Last edited by hotdogz; 12-28-2007 at 11:18 AM. |

i think.... im glad you posted this thread, even if it was a little late, because i myself am a consumer. HOWEVER since they are going around theyre elbow to fix this problem i think the least you could do is PM a mod and have him change the title to this thread to something NOT name slandering... all in all its a good thread, but if they are going to fix it, they dont need this blemish from someone on the city. SO when they fix it PM a Mod and ask them to change the thread (and link it) to something like, another good experience with sensi or something to that nature and explain it all. GL |

why? after the phone call i had changed my mind about sensi but when i got that from a sensi mod my ive change my mind. yes thanks for the pk of jack but there was no need for that message Y'know, I think you're very lucky to get a pack of seeds out of this, You've emailed around Xmas, and given ... what, a day or a few hours for a reply? I think the mod's just saying you didn't give them much time. ..he appears to be implying they're really busy around xmas and could have easily have not had enough time to check their emails. He didn't express himself very well though, I guess he wasn't hired for his great literary skills. Since you've been happy with them for four years, and right from the start they obviously wanted to talk with you in order to resolve the matter, then I say they've shown themselves to be a great company to deal with. Don't let the mod's lack of literary skills turn you to an inferior company.

I do realize that a seedbank can not guarantee a female in any quantity of seeds but the rarity of 100% males is so great that it sure wouldn't have hurt a thing for them to send a few freebies. What is strange is that last email you received. Why in the world after they did the right thing would they come back and ruin all of that good will with that last email. Maybe it was someone hired that has no literary skill but that person needs to be left to licking stamps and getting coffee for those busy making excuses. This all sounds so familiar, isn't sensi a sister company to someone we all know and love?

"...Feminized seeds can be relied upon to produce female plants, but they do have disadvantages, such as the fact that such females are not suitable as mother plants (essentially, one feminized seed equals one plant, instead of dozens or hundreds, as is possible when cloning)." That's the first I heard of that. I wonder why plants grown from feminized seeds wouldn't be suitable as mother plants? |

that just means you got unlucky =s have you checked the growing conditions? i mean... business is business and they can't just send extra seeds to everyone that's got a bad turnout, i mean, if you got 100% fem, would you send them an ounce? that really sucks -.- good luck on next grow

Extreme stress can make a female turn hermie but the growing conditions have nothing to do with the sex of the seed. The people at sensi know this even though in the first email they even tried to halfhandedly say it could be the growing conditions. Bad growing conditions will not make a seed turn into a male. Isn't sensi seeds a sister company of someone that we all know and love?

as hard as it may be, since you are the consumer...put yourself in their shoes. say you own a house building company and you do great work, then you take a job, and before the final product is worked out, or you get a chance to fix something, they go telling people about how they arent going to do business with you again and how you build shitty houses. you would be a little offended just as they are. granted the email was a little cocky, none the less it was true he dosent have to send you more seeds (even though that would be the smart thing for his business rep) none the less, im glad you posted this, its good info, however now that they are trying to correct the order i would ask a moderator to change the post title, thats all my opinion there are two sides to every story, and as much as i see and empathize for your side, you also have to see their side! Good luck also, if i went to pizza hut for 4 years (apparently things arent too bad because im going back) and then one day some kid taking my order was a huge asshole to me i wouldnt take my business to dominoes... a good company is a good company, especially if they are willing to keep a customer happy even when they arent required to. He showed us the first email they sent saying they were not going to "fix the house" before he ever made it public. In your halfass attempt to put this in another light, you need to compare apples to apples. If the home buyer had things not done right and the builder sent an email saying they would not fix it then the buyer should make it public. That is what happened here. The first email said nothing about making telephone contact. that came AFTER this was made public. Sensi had the chance to fix it before it was made public. If Sensi doesn't want these things made public then they should fix it before it is made public. As far as your Pizza Hut theory goes let's make it sound like this story. If I went to pizza hut for four years then I was going there because (apparently things arent too bad because im going back) and then one day some kid taking my order was a huge asshole to me i wouldnt take my business to dominoes. You conveniently forgot one huge thing here. Pizza Hut gives me something that I wasn't wanting then refused to make it right and then a kid they hired was a huge asshole. You can't keep conveniently forgetting there was a problem, they were given the opportunity to correct the problem and this whole event was taken public only after sensi had refused to make it right. If hotdogz had done as you are implying he would have not gotten the resend of those seeds. If I am not mistaken Sensi is a sister company to DC and doc did this exact same thing to me. He gave me excuses in private and got all upset when that excuse was made public. He is very unprofessional for someone who has so many happy customers. Many of the excuses I have heard here sound like some of his cronies having slithered from his own forum over to this one to post some half witted lame ass excuses as to why it is okay for a seedbank to do whatever they want to whoever they want for whatever reason they want. Is true they can't really make any guarantees but the fact of 100% males is so odd that good busienss would denote sending a customer of 4 years more seeds without all of the drama. If you don't then expect it to go public. If it goes public then too bad. You had an opportunity to make it right. Here is the bottomline. Don't say things in private that you don't want the public to find out, especially if they are customers. I smell doc's methods of trying to excuse his way out of a bad deal and to make little snide remarks even after things look settled. The SOB did that same thing to me and now it looks like he is doing it to someone else. Isn't Sensi Seeds a sister company to doc chronic? If not then what is that seed banks name that is also a part of the doc cronic company? This just seems to have doc all over it. If it isn't doc I am smelling here then I guess this is just SOP for seed banks. The best advice for hotdogz is now that you know the devil you are dealing with it might be time for a change. There are many seed banks that DO provide good service without all of the excuses and drama.
