OK... well my ABSOLUTE favorite sativa is the thai that i started out smoking in the mid 80s. it wasn't fruitly like all of the other thai strains (especiallyt highland thai) that i've read about since. it had a nice pinecone scent that i thought was super exotic back then. i HAVE seen a few nice sativa dominant strains that have a pinecone odor too though. whatever i smoked, i guess it's not a true named strain, but it was super trippy and potent and would only couchlock if you smoked it all day. seeing as THAT was what i started out with, EVERY RAT STINKING BEYOND CONTEMTUOUS COUCHLOCKING INDICA HYBRID i've ever paid for after that has only whizzed me off!
kali mist is SUPER AWESOME!!! i didn't have to pay for it. i was given a gram, and seeing i already KNEW what it was, i begged and pleaded my sister's boyfriend to sell me an ounce at top dollar to no avail. it was amazing IMMEDIATELY. right away, i loved the exotic spicy flavor that tasted just like you were smoking crushed red peppers! YUMMY! the high is also VERY distinctive. i intended to sit down and trip out on tunes like i would on thai, but KM is just too darn energetic! i couldn't sit still. i ended up cleaning my house including my fishtanks and had a blast the whole time. where thai could get paranoid (i think that's a side effect of trippiness), KM was totally euphoric. it wasn't the trippy high i really wanted, but it smacked the daylights out of anything i'd had for 10 years easily and immediately became the top strain on my wish list. it's rumored to be a favorite of the ladies and if i was smoking with a gal, i'd DEFINATELY chose KM as i bet that happy energy gets ladies horny. despite the $100 price, i ended up finally springing for some and can't wait to grow them.
haze is probably what i'd like the most, but it's just too huge and slow to be practical for indoor grows. still, as it'ssupposed to be mostly thai, i bet it smokes super!
finally, the only other NAMED sativa i've smoked was durban poison which i was given a gram of too. it wasn't as trippy as thai either, but i was nursing it instead of the 4 deep one hitters straight i used to do back in the day. it was the 3rd best bud i ever smoked. it was way more potent than the best mexican brick (my 4th favorite ever) i'd ever had but one thing about it disgusted me, the black licorice flavor. i despise black licorice! it's one of the most disgusting flavors in the world to me. if YOU like that flavor, then DP is super exotic (and probably MORE authentic tasting than blueberry & bubblegum etc.) and grows pretty compact for a pure sativa. if it weren't for the flavor which makes me nauseous, i'd have DP beans for sure. the high totally makes up for the taste and if you like licorice, it's pure connoisseur bud!
i HAVEN'T actually budded my C99 splash seeds yet (only have 3 left) but cindy sounds awesome to me! she's one of the trippiest (and paranoid) strains, yet she grows compact and quick unlike most sativas. not only that, but she has a mild and stealthy floral odor as well as a pineapple flavor. THAT was the strain i was hardest about trying. she's related to skunky super silver haze & jack herer but sounds more refined to me. i can't wait to hit a kali mist female with C99 pollen. oh that will have to be something AWESOME!
if you want an easier to grow pure sativa, alot of people like burmese.
finally super haze (haze X skunk #1) is an award winner that's 87.5% sativa. i tried compact growing "75% sativa" skunk#1 once and was totally unimpressed. it was pretty much the same as all of the rest of the hybrid crap i've ever smoked. it's supposed to be euphoric (i didn't feel it), but if you cross a compact 75% sative with monsterous haze, i bet you'll get something nice! it's the most practical sounding haze cross i know of and i picked some $20 haze skunk up from high quality seeds. 50% haze! that's a good thing... 50% haze + 37.5% compact sativa sounds too good to be true!
while i don't have any hands on experience with any of these other sativa dominant strains, i've seen nothing but glowing reviews for trainwreck, NYC diesel & mother's finest. they're worth researching at least.
