Seed harvest / germ question?

Does anyone know how long I need to wait before I should test the germination of freshly harvested seed?

Many thanks.

Tulip.

well i don't KNOW, but it's nothing to look it up in my marijuana botany book. it's a few months if memory serves me right. hmmmmm... i couldn't find the time frame. all the book talks about is removing the casings and drying them in a brown paper bag and storing them in a cool dry place.

the maximum recommended viability is 3 years.

i no longer have my 3 original grow guides. for some reason, the time frame 3 months comes to mind but it's been about 15 years since i read those. all MB says is dry them out.

if you're producing enough seeds, you could easily just test one or two for viability every month or so until they pop. are you going to have a small number because you're hand pollinating them?

i remember reading somewhere that the seeds cure at the same rate as the buds they came out of. so i guess 4 to 6 six weeks and they're ready. i guess if you wanted to be safe, you could wait a little longer.

maybe it was 4-6 weeks and not months then. that sounds about right 4-6 seems to be ringing a bell. i don't think it would take forever for a seed to dry out.
