Is coughing rude in your opinion?
In my circle, it means a "holy bee-jesus, that was a good hit", but I have the tendency to try to hold the cough as best I can feeling it to be just the wrong thing to do, but for all this time I never asked: is it rude to cough?

absolutly not. Coughing cant be helped. If they think its rude, they need to lighten up.
Not being a jerk, but i think its funny as hell watching someone look like a jerk, trying to hold in the cough. They make funny faces, and sounds haha, thats just me. But no man, its not rude. you get +rep for not being afriad to ask a question, that you were uncertain about

We (me and my best friend) went to this chill place outside of town, and met up with this guy at his dad's bar. We got free drinks the whole night and watched the band play. Later on, the guy asked us if we wanted to smoke a bowl. HELL YA, we did. We went out back to smoke. The guy lit up his spoon and passed to me. I took a hit and passed to my best friend. He took a hit, and promptly coughed BACK INTO the spoon. The weed exploded out of the bowl into a million pieces.
THAT, my friends, is rude. I wanted to kick his ass, especially since the guy didnt want to smoke after that. Other than that kind of coughing, it's normal to cough.

i think coughing is a sign of good bud, and if it's someone elses, it's a compliment. but nah, its definately not rude to cough

Haha, is the rumor really true?
Coughing gets you higher? Maybe it's just a placebo thing for me but it seems that way sometimes.

It's not that coughing gets you higher, its that when you cough it means you took a big hit, in turn, getting you higher than taking smaller hits.
Here's a weed game i learned from my dealer about coughing... You set a length of time that everyone has to take on hit for. So like everyone has to take a 7 second hit of constant smoke. If you cough then you're out of the circle for the rest of that bowl. Last person left finishes the bowl.

for one, I will blow an eardrum before blowing the bowl all over the place (or worse, bong water all over the exploded bud), hmm, and coughing makes you higher, eh? That sounds pretty cool, and I have heard of this before from someone, can't remember who though

No, its defanately not bad manners, probably a sign of gud bud, or you took a huge hit. I don't cough much i'd much rather be taking lots of medium sized hits, than hacking up lung juice in the corner missing all the fun from taking a HUGE hit, coughing is defantely not fun especially if it goes on for ages...
