Exclamation why weed is illegal

hey yall, i just wanted to hear some of your opnions of why pots illegal. personally my theory is all about timing, bad timing! back when pot and liquor were both legal, they tried a lovley thing called prohibtion for liquor. Now at the time, there were quite a few people who enjoyed liquor, and eventually all their bitching and protesting and black market sales led the government to re-legalize booze. numbers, they had the number of users to make a difference. Now when pot was deemed illegal, with the marihuana tax act, not a lot of people smoked it. there were no big protests or people bitching about it, and the government just left it that way. think about it, if marijuana had been legal up until now, and tomorrow it were to be illegal, think of the numbers who wud protest, i would hope we all would! its all about timing... bad timing.... such a bummer, anyways, what all are your reasons that pot's illegal!

When Liqour was illegal:

People go it underground then got drunk and got mad and fought the government.

While Pot is illegal:

We get it undergound. We smoke up. Then we sit back and chill.

idk about cash, but i definetly agree about the alcohol and tobacco industry wanting to keep it illegal, and the hemp arguement is certainly valid, while the govt recognizes theres not enuff thc in hemp, its still a banned crop! its messed up. for the cash thing, idk if u guys checked out the news section, but someone posted an article about cali, and some other states, about oaksterdam and the efforts to legalize pot for adult recreational use, use the money for state services and get it off the streets and regulate it and stuff. pretty cool idea, i hope it works

weed is illegal because of ignorace of the populace. what the average person doesn't know about pot could fill a headshop (a big one). The reson people smoke is because they try it, and they realize what it's like. most stoners inform themselves, and learn about pot. they take the risks they take because in the end, it feels good, and they understand what they're getting in to. most people hate weed for any number of ignorant reasons without logic brought to you by your friendly neighbourhood BSing government.

as for why it was MADE illegal in the first place, see above. these people know what they're talking about.

It's illegal and it always will be because our government is retarded. They are embarassed to legalize it because that would be admitting that they are 'wrong'.

Then again, I can't imagine how gay it would be to walk down to my local Kroger to buy an 8th of weed. Fuckin... Yukon Gold or Kroger Brand.

Anyways, our government doesn't want us to use our drugs to make us feel better. They want us to buy their drugs.

It will never be legalized. Call me what have you, but it won't be, at least not in this life-time.

There are some laces in California pushing for recreational use for adults. It's not legal, but medical marijuana is legal here. There is an organization not too far from where I live (in California) that is handing out green cards like mad. All you do is walk in and say "this and this and that hurts and pain killers don't work, I've been to a doctor, and that didn't help either... but when I smoke pot I feel fine..." and boom, you have a medical marijuana card... it is best to say it is work related, but you will probably get one anyway. The card says you can grow up to 99 plants, but you may not own a scale, or show any intent to sell. And you can have up to 1/8 on you legally in public places. But you must have your card with you at all times. They are trying to make it as simple as possible for anyone over 18 to get the card.

Figured I would pop in on this one

I agree with hemperer that timing was an important role. Think of the ignorance involved in reefer madness. The reason why weed wont be legalized for awhile is because the government has spent so much money on the war on drugs that it cant bail out of it even if it has been losing from the start.

Blazedbowtie, that is awsome. i live in ga and i think we would be the last state in the union to legalize it. all the alcoholic, violent, abusive rednecks hate pot and they basicly control everything here.

Hey, I'm a noob to these forums. so i hope you guys are easy going. I think the green-card laws are great, but if you can't posses a scale then, how are you expected to know if you have less than an 1/8 on you? I think if you are allowed to have it, and have a quota for it in public, then you should have the right to know how much you have.
