It's not that he would or wouldn't, it's he couldn't

Obviously with any law, it varies between States. However, for the post part for them to search the locked glove box would require your keys. If you do not agree to them using your property (the keys in this place), especially when there's no consent to a search. They cannot lawfully use force to retrieve those keys, to proceed to open the glove box. That's a case a cop does not want to go to court for.

The main things to keep in mind:
1) Do not provide probable cause in the first place (don't drive stoned, don't leave shit in plain view that the leo could see upon looking into the vehicle.)
2) Do NOT give up your rights and consent to a search.
3) This gets sketchy, but even the TIME OF DAY that you are in an area can be considered probable cause (the hood, white kid, 3 am ).
He's got it.

The best place to hide something is in the place they thought they already looked,

like

if your parents are old. . .

tape your weed to their glasses

or the remote

He's got it.

I found multiple Supreme Court case files on Google involving a scenario where someone would try to get evidence from a locked glove box dismissed as an illegal search.

In all the cases I read, the Supreme Court found that given probable cause that a suspect has contraband, (and don't even tell me you don't know how lose the definition of "probable cause" is) a warrantless of a locked glove box is reasonable by Fourth Amendment standards.

That's all I need to read to not feel secure keeping herb in my locked glove box.

You're gonna do what you're gonna do, because it's what you believe. And that's cool.

Just want to make sure both sides get heard.

If you read what you said closely, you'll realize that the defendants were already deemed suspects (from your wording). When you get pulled over for a routine stop (that's what 85% if not more, are), you're not a suspect as you didn't do anything wrong.

It seems that "all these court case files" you so called "found on Google" are useless as far as valuable sources go. Why? Simple. They lack details and specifics to the scenario where they found a probable cause or were given a probable cause (or you at least didn't provide them, I'm sure if we examined them closely we would be like "Ohhhh, that changes a whole lot").

You stated that probable cause is used loosely, like a cop can snap is fingers and make probable causes appear, but it doesn't really happen like that. Cops have plenty of strict rules to abide also.

This information is invalid, as far as I'm concerned and doesn't include NJ. If this was Florida we were talking about, where the Police tend to use brute and un-lawful force routinely (Martial Law) then I would agree with you 100%

However, if you live in one of the many States left that still cant get away with that kind of bullshit yet, then your safe. People usually know there areas, and have an idea of what there rights are anyway. Like you said, you'll do what you think is best in the end.

Re: •••Where Do You Hide Your $tash•••

Yeah, I'm definitely not going to take the time go look up a dozen court case files again and copy and paste a bunch of long shit that no one will read.

It's on Google. Search yourself.

Anyhow, all I'm saying is that (as far as I have read) probable cause allows them to search your vehicle, including the glove box even if it's locked.

Smelling weed is probable cause. That one has been proven time and time again. Anything in plain view. Or, basically "a reasonable belief that a person has committed a crime". That's relatively vague, I think.

If they don't have probable cause, then yeah they can't search without consent or a warrant.

So... we're on the same page then, right?

No it's not, we accomplished a lot.

1) junkiedays is a cutie

2) dont give cops a probable cause

3) know your rights in your state

4) never give up your rights by consenting to a search

5) and finally, if by all means you have to travel with weed in the car, make sure it's locked in your glove compartment
