Thoughts on what is it that makes Sativa & Indica primary strains different?

I'm not talking about the effects of smoking it, rather the variables behind it.

I'm thinking that Thc is, well, THC, and that there isn't a difference there other than the percentage of it which tends to be higher par for par amongst Sativa strains. However this is usually negligible since Indica's too are known for their high THC percentages.

So I'm thinking it has to do with the types and ratios of the cannibinoids that make Sativa & Indica strains different.Other thoughts on this?I'd appreciate any, doesn't matter, share.

Yes, you have the right idea. The different combination of cannabinoids alters what type of high you get. I tend to think of THC as the "high", while other cannabinoids produce the "sedation" feeling.

This is also why pot does not have to be heated into fats in order to produce effects in edibles, but the effects are noticeably less profound (THC=Heat activated)

Re: Thoughts on what is it that makes Sativa & Indica primary strains different?

well lets get down and dirty in the books of history about how theese two different strains came about.... There has been much controversey about wether there exists one species of cannabis with different varietys. in 1783 the famous naturalist, Jean-Baptiste Lamarck suggested that the hemp plant found in europe was sufficiently different from that which grew in india. that being said Jean-Lamarck re-classefied this plant as Cannabis Sativa for the european plant and Cannabis indica is named after its country of origin (india)

now.... the differences...

cannabis sativa is the most widespread. a gangling open branched plant, it can grow up to 6 meters in height, whereas cannabis indica grows only about 1 meter in height and is conical in shape with dense branching.

You have no place here if you think THC and heat have anything to do with each other. Heat has nothing to do with this. It can help thc absorbtion into fat, as heat helps most solvents pick up solute, but thats about it. I mean, you wouldn't make budder with 32 degree butter, it would be stupid.

THC isn't the only cannabinoid that is active in MJ
CBD is another cannabinoid that is active, which causes couch lock.
THC causes the highness.
Sativas have a high THC to CBD ratio
Indicas have a closer number... so thus more couchlock/pain relief/etc with your highness

CBD content has a lot to do with it.

THC needs to be heated before being eaten because in the fresh plant its in the form of THC-A (acid).
THC-A is THC with an extra carboxyl molecular group (a co2 molecule attached, might be CO not sure).
Anyway, heating it past a certain temp causes decarboxylation, that carboxyl group detaches itself from the THCa and becomes co2 gas (or co cant remember), leaving behind nice THC delta 9
The heat has little to do with absorbtion into whatever food you're using.
