Just made myself some home made - hash. So, i used the iso method and let it sit in the container for around 30 minutes, shaking it hard every 5 minutes for 2-5 minutes. I then waited like 2 days for the iso to evaporate but not all had evaporated. I used my lava lamp to heat the bottom of the jar and burn off all the ISO. Then i used a knife to scrape up the "mess" that was left. It was extremely sticky but it was completely dark. Like solid black basically. I burned a little bit off by putting it on a knife and burning it, and the smoke that was left was blueish-white and moved very cleanly. What do you guys think the quality of this hash is before even smoking it. And could it be possible for it to be contaminated and tahts why it was so sticky?(i used a plastic jar thing)


Edit: forgot to mention that when i had just finished burning the iso with the lava lamp. It had an extremely fruity smell. It smelled very distinct, but not really like marijuana. Thats also why im worried, because it didnt smell like marijuana but rather very fruity and different.

See, that says that its after 3 times doing this extraction and mines only one extraction.

what kind of container did you use? plastic absorbs smells, it wasn't a juice bottle or something was it? tupperware? was there food in it

The secret to high quality Iso hash is to go with an extremely short soak. I only soak/shake the first round for 30 seconds and go for 1 minute on the second. This is a bit of a leap in faith and always seams wasteful to only prosess for such a short time ... but it makes much better hash.

By doing a long soak you have pulled out plenty of THC but have also pulled out most of the non-psychoactive plant material as well. No real harm, but it makes for harsher less pure smoke.

there are so many hash tutorials on this forum i cant believe you did it like this..

first of all, 30 minutes in iso? are you crazy? you're smoking so much plant material and chlorophyll that was pulled out of the bud (reason your hash is so dark) that it sounds like there wasnt even any advantage to making this hash

second, you shouldn't use heat to evaporate the iso, heat degrades THC. It's best to just let the iso evaporate with a fan or in a well ventalated area.

third, did you say you used a plastic jar to put iso in? BIG NO on that one. and then did you say you heated that plastic jar with iso in it? god i hope not

fourth, you didnt say anything about straining the plant material out of the iso. I hope you didnt just let the bud sit in the iso for the 2 days while the iso was evaporating.

To dr. Kush. Yes 30 minutes. Yes i heated it but not enough for the THC to burn off, i would put it on the light for 2 minutes or so and then let it cool for 10 minutes. Yes i used tubberware kinda thing, and thats what i was asking if it was bad. And i strained out the plant material after the 30 minute wash. Is it going to be contaminated?

EDIT: EDIT: FUCK it. I went and smoked some and it is very good. The smoke was very whitish with a tint of blue. it didnt taste or smell like rubber (i have burned it before). So i guess it wasnt contaminated. Fuck i gotta go mow the lawn now! (FUCK!)

Yet another edit: when smoked regularly this weed is a sativa, but when the hash is consumed it turned into an indica. WTF!!! IM loving this. I love indica over sativa anyday!

ANother edit: Damn this feels good. GET ON UP! STAY ON THE SCENE! LIKE A SEX MACHIEN!!!ahah so im feeling fabolous. Pretty fucked but its super fun. Before it woudl just make me jumpy and give me a body high but this hash makes me chill and makes me super happy.

Its sticky because you have brought out the resinous properties of the trichomes with the iso.

Next time remember you can do several washes, the first one should be very short, and will produce the highest quality hash.

So things to remember for next time.

-Shorter washes

-Glass, not plastic

You can use some heat to evaporate the the rest of the iso, but be VERY careful because iso is VERY flammable. The best way to do this is with a double boiler.
