hey there,
i'm new to this thread - mainly for one reason.
i hate to be one of those 'first post, first question' people but i'm stressed out.

a few friends and i got caught smoking last night in new england by a cop on public property (a boardwalk.) none of us had any bud on us per say, but we had 3 fatties sitting on a wooden beam next to us. he took only two of our names and addresses down, probably because we were the ones driving.

anyway i was wondering what you think will happen. my rationale is that if we were going to get arrested he wouldve done it right then and there. are they allowed to actually send us anything in the mail? can he show up at my doorstep? is it still possible that i could get arrested?

this being the 'seasoned tokers' thread, i assume some people have had a similar experience to this. any information would be helpful.

Na, you're most likely safe. From your description of the events the cop didn't really seem to care. The ones who want to make your life hell would have given you a ticket or arrested you.

well if you do wind up going to court, i bet you would be fine, the roaches weren;t in your possession were they?


but anyways, its common for cops to just take down information.

thanks for the consolation guys. those were pretty much the answers i was expecting. seeing as i'm 19, i don't believe the police have the ability to contact my parents. hell, going to jail is cake compared to the torture my p-units could put me through...

Although I am not familiar with the American legal system, especially state laws, I might propose two possibilities.

Either it was a sly intimidation tactic, used to make you paranoid or cautious of your cannabis use, this is a tactic used by many law enforcement agencies, especially with misdemeanor drug use. Or youmayreceive a citation in the mail, likely for public intoxication or disturbing the peace.

If the second is true, you need not worry too much; it is simply a small fine. It can be contested in court, but you will likely not want to do that, for simplicity.
