Most digital cameras have a macro setting. It's best if you have a lot of light and a steady surface to take your pics. Get close up rather than using the zoom feature.
To get really good macro pics you need a good camera with a macro lens.

What kinda Sony you use?

I have a DSC-H3

8.1 megapixel, shitload of features, amateur photographer kinda cam. Nice but not a Rebel at all. But I've gotten MANY compliments on my photos.

The only tips I can give you right now are try to use alotta natural light if possible, if not, use a desk lamp and get the lighting as close to the bud as you can, also, DO NOT USE AUTO FEATURE, ONLY MANUAL.

Peace

its mostly the lighting, also put the bud on a piece of white computer paper; the green will contrast so you get a better shot. yeah and like people are saying dont zoom, it will cause distortion just get up in the buds face.

your not gonna get anything great with a cybershot. you need to shoot with a SLR (digital or film) and a telephoto lens or a macro lens. and then plenty of natural light. oh and ya need a tripod to steady the camera.
