Coughing up flem?
Ok GC so i pretty much have been smoking straight for 6 months or so now and for some wierd reason for the past month or so ive been coughing really bad and somtime even coughing up flem, not when i toke but when im not smoking, like when im sober. So what im asking is this bad? or just somthing everyone does somtimes?

It's pretty normal for a smoker actually.
I think the coughing is because your lungs are struggling a little bit to clear the phlegm in the usual way - (normally you swallow it everyday and don't even notice). If it gets to be a serious chesty wheezy thing as well then it's bronchitis - and then you'd really wanna cut down.. If it's bothering you maybe take a T-break or try edibles or something?

As you're smoking, you maybe cough a little initially because the smoke irritates the cilia in your lungs. Cilia are like little fingers that push debris and phlegm out of your lungs. As you continue smoking, you burn some cilia, and the rest gets kinda stuck with tar.
Once you're done smoking and you give your body a break, the cilia start to break free and start to clear out your lungs again. Happens to me every morning after sleeping for the night. All that phlegm kinda settles and I cough it out in the morning. It's pretty gross but whatever. Didn't really start to happen to me until like 3 years of everyday smoking. and if I stop for over 24 hours kinda closer to 2 days, I get a nasty cough. Nastier than usual that is. Same thing as before, but my body is clearing out really old shit.

I always cought up clear stuff a day or two after smoking a lot. But it goes away pretty quick.

Yeah, I've heard from very many studies that "Pot Cough" is actually a benificial reaction which occurs because of a certain chemical in Marijuana that makes you cough to "clean" your lungs.
I'll see if I can find the article for you, it was very interesting. But, as I saw someone say before, none of us are doctors, and if you really are that concerned, get yourself checked out. Good luck!

But anyways, yeah dude just take a short break if it's bothering you that much. Probably just a minor irritation causing flem build up. No worries just take a T-break.

ok thanks guys, no i dont smoke ciggarettes anymore, and no its not black its clear flem, and im not worried about it that much. I just thought ide ask a bunch of potheads what they thought because im sure you guys would know since you guys smoke everyday. Its not like and uncomfortable weezy cough, it just comes and goes. Il just start coughing one day and the next il cough up flem and then 10 minutes from now i wont even be coughing.

i've been smoking everyday for a bit over a year and i cough up black shit a couple times a week
and sometimes my voice gives out because of like phlegm and shit and i gotta clear my throat before talking
