The messages are either those garbled ones that have no meaning, like a number of our dreams, or they actually are givning us insight on how to live, love, or other things.

For instance, when I get really high, I hear voices speaking that are not really there. But I can't usually make out what they're saying. All I hear is mumbles. But every now and then I hear what one voice is trying to say, and what they say makes sense. It's always somethig positive and uplifting about love, life, nature, and spirituality.

So I hope you see what I'm trying to get at. Mind expanding drugs open the gateway to another world where we see and feel parts of their message, fragments of greater understanding, and where every now and then we are blessed to have the other world speak clearly to us.
i have thought of that too, and also thought that dreams are a way to explore your imagination. have you ever heard of lucid dreaming? knowing when u are dreaming therefore u can take control of your dream and do whatever u want. its a break from reality and you can literally do whatever you would like. but then again i thought "maybe these dreams are messages by a higher being and i am just disrupting these messages with my lucid dreaming"

I believe it is everyones individual senses that make things real in there life. Take away those things, and you are the epitome of the word numb.
yea, the essence of life is sensation

I believe that we are just one existance of many. I believe in a higher being, say God, and I was thinking that maybe he created all these galaxies and shit cuz it's been fucked up so many times. We have proof that Mars and other planets could have held life at one point. 99.9 percent of living things that have lived on earth have gone extinct, we're the other .1 percent that hasn't. All I'm trying to say while super-dee-duper baked is that 1. We might not be the only people to have existed or are existing, 2. I believe in a higher being, 3. We will go extinct, just a matter of time... what will happen after that no one knows. 2012 will be interesting...

P.S. Sorry if I'm off topic, I just read the 1st page and wrote off of that.

spiritual/philosophy sub-forum much...

but to answer your original question (which already has its own thread in the s/p) there is no meaning to an accident. although our living, conscious selves are free to receive the benefits of this accident (ie happiness).

I agree with the above statement.

There IS a distinct possibility that we are just one magnificent and complex cosmic coincidence. Our existence could just be billions of years of micro-scopic evolution and co-dependency on productive enviroments.

We could be alone in the universe. We could be the only form of life that has developed such a creative and independent conciousness. There may never be anything like us again. Or, maybe there is a distant planet, orbitting a distant star, with a world that was given the opportunity for life, just as ours was, and has evolved alongside of us.

Either way, the possibilities are staggering.

Yeah I've thought about that before. That'd be crazy if another "Earth" was ever discovered.

I believe "reality" is being examined a lot in this thread.

Perspective is 90% of reality, as we know it.

Reality is our existence.

Without our perspective, our existence is meaningless.

The reality is we exist.

Purpose is why we exist.

Without purpose, we no longer exist.

Discover your purpose, populate your reality.

Ha ha ha! Purpose is the illusion of reality. It's ironic to think that people believe that purpose is the reason we exist. Purpose would not exist without us. Purpose is an ego-centric invention, and it makes us feel special for the wrong reasons.

Don't get me wrong, we are all special, unique individuals, with our own amazing abilities, thoughts, and desires, but we shouldn't need some grandiose "purpose" to make us think such.

Think of it this way. Before we existed, there was no purpose in the world. Purpose does not grow the trees or the grass. Purpose does not make the world turn, the skies rain, or the rivers run. They do that because that is what they are supposed to do.

Purpose only comes trough the acknowledgement of doing what you are meant to do. Think. Love. Hope. Understand. But it's not purpose that asks us to do this, it's desire. There was no purpose before us, and when we're gone, there will again be no purpose.

We shouldn't need purpose to feel wanted.

Absolutely! And I mean, scientifically speaking, it's entirely plausible. It's been long doubted that Earth was an isolated incident. The possibility that another planet that could sustain life is a very reasonable assumption, as it has been shown that in nature, as in life, nothing happens only once.

i like to think about how amazing everything in the history of the world has corresponded so taht the planet has evolved and succeded. Think about how many thing can go wrong to our earth. but Everything has happend exactly the way it has to make it how it is.
why did the first lightning bolt strike and teach cavemen how to make fire, why did that dude fly his kite in a storm and discover elctricity, Why did the first person that faught slavery ask him self, "why are they so different then us". why did all these things happen to form our world as we know it? and another thing, what if they didnt?

If the universe is truly infinite or at least very, very large, then its almost certain that a planet like earth, that has been placed in our solar system in the ideal position for life, exists in other parts of the universe.
