New Replacement Piece!

Well the time came for a new bong, as all of them have now been broken. So I wanted to take a different route in my quest for a new piece. So I chose a homemade one. I purchased a vase, new bowl, grommet, and stem. After drilling the hole and setting the stem, I found out that the hole at the top as the mouthpiece, was too big. This made smoking awkward, because I had to place my chin and whole mouth in the piece for any vacuum to happen. So I purchased a stopper, 1/4" hose and installed them to the vase. Its such a nice smoke.

what did you use to drill the hole?

I've been wanting to make my own bongs for a while now but haven't figured out what to drill it with. I've heard a diamond tipped dremmel works, but I haven't tried it.

You dont have to use a dremmel. I went to home depot and got a glass/ceramic drill bit. The end of the drill bit looks like a spade.

You could have done the same thing without drilling the glass. Just get a stopper with two holes, one for a long downstem, and another for your mouthpiece/tube.

^^Yeah. True but:

1. I didnt intend for it to end up like it did, although im stoked it did.

2. I like it better this way. Less crowded and looks better in my opinion.

Yeah for the stopper I didnt have to drill a hole because I bought it pre-drilled. My local homebrew store has drilled stoppers (i used #10) for the glass carboys. Then 3 ft of 1/4" hose was all I needed.

Let me know what you guys think.

I have an older friend that makes his own. He has one like someone mentioned that the stopper, his is a cork, has one brass pipe for a carb and one for the mouth piece. They are pretty cool to see. Nice job.

Damn, that's pretty sweet. I wanna buy a glass drill bit and drill my own glass bong but my local hardware store doesn't have any and I don't feel like driving half an hour to pick up a bit, so it'll happen when it'll happen.

They are the same as ceramic/tile drill bits. I would go with the 1/2".
