Arrow an email kentucky congressman sent me replying to mmj request

A few weeks ago i sent my congressman a letter talking about marijuana and legalization etc. here's an email he sent me back

Dear ********:

Thank you for taking the time to contact me about our nation's drug laws. I understand that staying in touch with the people of the Sixth District is the most important part of my job. Your thoughts and opinions will enable me to better represent you in our nation's Capitol.

Having served for eight years as Kentucky Attorney General, I am deeply familiar with the issues surrounding drug abuse and trafficking in the Commonwealth. As you note, many communities have made efforts to expand access to medical marijuana. During my time in Congress, you may be assured that I will always work to ensure that our drug laws make sense and work to rid our state of the scourge of illegal drugs.

As always, I value your input and will continue to rely on the advice of Central Kentuckians as I work to bring economic growth and jobs to our communities, fight against the skyrocketing costs of health care, ensure the best possible education for our children, stand up for veterans, and protect Social Security and Medicare.

Thank you again for your comments, and please feel free to contact me anytime I can be of assistance to you and your family.

Sincerely,

Ben Chandler
Member of Congress

i dunno for a second i thought he might be a little serious but the more i read it, it just sounds like he's BSing. what do u guys think?

I think he's nice at least.
True that politicians are corrupts, but this man is a congressman with no recognition beyond your district, or maybe Kentucky. I'd say he's honestly realized that MMJ is cool, and I think most people with a sane mind are open for discussion.

Just wait for some bills to come up and look at his voting record.. that should do.

Greetings famerfunk,

It is an interesting response indeed, and I can see how this man has been successful in politics. His ability to obfuscate and to avoid answering a direct question is flabbergasting.

I am unsure weather he affirmed or negated your inquiry. He did not really give you any type of straight answer. To speculate, it seems like he is on your side of the argument and is simply refraining from admitting it outright for political reasons.

Either way, a response from an American politician concerning cannabis is a very rare thing. Good work on being proactive as far as medicinal cannabis use is concerning. You have my kudos.

Yours Truly,
Sam_Spade

What a useless letter. He uses language that is both for and against the issue.

He basically told you nothing at all.

he said

I will always work to ensure that our drug laws make sense and work to rid our state of the scourge of illegal drugs.

which i took as "fuck off kid, drugs are illegal for a reason"

but hey, who knows, he certainly sounded like a politician.

That is how they work. The sign of a good congressman is a good bullshitter.

At first glance it is almost like you understand his response, and it answers everything. That is what they bank on, the fact that people are two lazy to re-read.

it really seems like marijuana does not have a good future in politics. I guess if Obama wins he should at least be somewhat good for MMJ

i bet you anything-

he votes against it on the state level and is saying he doesnt care if local communities are trying to legalize marijuana (either he allows it to happen or hes against it happening im not sure).

thats what i saw in that letter

screw obama clinton and mccain, i didnt want any of them from the beginning and now theyre playing the popularity game. vote for an independent that agrees with your views, dont just vote for one of the main three because you think one of them will win anyways, it takes two seconds to find another candidate who you like better. dont play their stupid games where they blanket certain types of people with one thing that makes them look good- like legalizing marijuana.

this will match you up on the issues with candidates that are similar in belief to you.

MMJ can have a good future if we dont play the stupid games everyone else plays!

dude thats funny that you did that...

but the letter itself is his way of not taking a side either way, while still mentioning your topic. i would assume so as to procure your vote in the next election or whatever.

note how he only said that you mentioned medical marijuana. and then said that he is working to do his best to support all of his advertised issues. politician= he's just fuckin around.

i mean its not like he could say: "you twat, you actually think i give a damn. medical marijuana means nothing in kentucky. i still stand firm on all my points of view."

Greetings flyhalf87,

I didn't want to bring up the topic, but since you did, I'll add my own 2 cents. You're absolutely right, democratically-elected government can and will only fail for one very obvious reason: apathy.

Voting for candidates of a major party, and in doing so sacrificing ideal representation, you are ensuring that any form of government will dissatisfy you.

Well said, flyhalf87.

Yours Truly,
Sam_Spade
