How was weed in the 90s?

I have to disagree from a the stand point of one who has been smoking since 91' and growing since 96' weed is not the same as it is now. Back in the 90's there were about 10 main strains in circulation. Not even close to as many brand name strains we have now. The main strain that sticks out in my mind was Skunk the more exotic strains were Maui Wowie, panama red and Thai haze which are all the grandparents to the strains many of you know now. Excessive breeding and isolation of certain strain traits now gives us the many strains of today.

mid 80's-early 90's was a crapshoot lol. either "green" or brown" somtimes some skunk.. but skunk that smelled like a skunk.. not the sweet stuff we all buy now

Selective breeding is the shit.. Giving us the hundreds of potent strains that have never before existed, all with their own unique characteristics and high.

yeah very true around 94' maybe 95 I smoked my first Northern lights which was said to have been bred indoors in Alaska by some breeders who had nothing to do but breed and grow weed during the long winter nights of Alaska , One night while smoking a new strain they have bred they where inspired by the Aurora Borealis and so they named it Northern Lights.These same breeders have also been credited for breeding White Widow which has been said to originated in Alaska as well and was released around 95'- 96' I got a hold of some great Blueberry in 96' and grew my frist Blueberry plants in 98'.

And Yes Skunk was Very Skunky back in the day! I grew some Skunk in 96' my first grow ever outdoors from seed at a buddies house in the back yard with miracle grow soil and nutes ya know all the rookie moves But all went well we ended up with 2 4 foot bushes both were girls and budded quite nicely and boy oh boy they stank like a skunk and a cat had a piss fight !!!! Man that dank was the best our freinds = friends big brothers and even = mothers and fathers had smoked in a while so I was addicted to growing ever since

But its very true weed has changed drastically since the begining of the 90's even more since 2000 when weed culture exploded more then ever before.

Yes I know weed that was around back then wasn't as potent as it is today and yes it keeps on changing with thc levels constantly rising. what I meant was there was quality weed in the 90's with strains just as potent as some of today's strains skunk is one of the main ones that come to mind.

I think it depended on where you were at. In the bigger cities, you could get your hands on "kind" bud (Skunk, Blueberry, JH, etc.), but in the smaller towns, you were stuck with brick weed. (It of course depends on who you know) I think that growing really took off in the late 90's and improved the availibility and types of buds availible for everyone. Weed in the 90's was similar to what's out there now, you just have more choices for the high end nugs.

Its "Kine" bud not kind bud. This thread is useless after hps starting being the common thing to use in grow houses we started seeing the dankness.

Also there was dank bud back in the day... Just because your dad bought leaf doesn't mean it didn't exsist.

One particual strain i haven't seen since 2000+ is bubblegum.

There was more hash slate and swidgy black oil here in the uk in the 90s but orange bud and sensi and skunk and a lot of shit with seeds and sticks in lol

I think HID and other lights came out in the late 80's. Hydroponics was made popular in the ninetys. Probably a lot of dank back then but its probably more common now a days to score dank easyer.
