Well, went to Amsterdam in my Senior year of High school. The prices were 2 euro's for 1 gram of Blueberry Yum Yum. The smoke nearly killed me with superiority the first time lol. The second time was a little better. Pretty much just that... however open you think the city is about weed... it's more open than that lol. I saw probably 10-15 ppl an hour just sitting down and rolling joints everywhere and anywhere. Not to mention all the smells

It seems like they've been starting to kind of tighten up on their laws. I have heard that some of the smaller shops are being shut down, and they are making shrooms illegal. I think eventually weed will be illegal there too, but who knows?

Amen to that.

It's one thing I want to do before I die.

I really hope they don't tighten down just as the US might lighten up.

Even if they are strapping down on the laws I wouldn't imagine they would be in effect for very long. I would imagine a large portion of the cities economy is based on tourism and I would think most tourists go to Amsterdam for you guessed it, smoking weed. Without weed its just another city in Europe with nothing really to draw tourists all the way up there to the Netherlands. They change the laws, there economy suffers, they realize they made a mistake, they change it back. I would think the politicians there are thinking the same thing as me and wouldn't consider an all out ban on weed for this very reason.

Picture marijuana in amsterdam being like alcohol in canada, keep it in the coffee shops, you can buy up to five grams at a time, ranging from about 2 - 6 euro, hash, mushrooms, don't smoke in public, or walk around all stupid high. once you max out at one shop, walk around and find another, you can get maps online, coffee shops let you use bongs and such, you can order brownies, rent vapos,, whatever you'd like.

And the buds...are out of this world

i remember reading something about amsterdam that was like the reason they tolerate weed and dont make it all the way illegal is because they are trying to keep the "soft-drug" users away from the hard-drugs that you might encounter if you had to buy it from some dealer. because of that i dont think they are going to be tightening up their laws much or at all

Yeah I heard that too. I also heard that licences could not be transferred to another name.

Does anyone know what exactly is going on?

Im sure the coffee shops in and of themselves arent hard to open but if you want to open one there you have to think about all the technical (nonbuisness) things you will need to open one up.

If you plan on living there im pretty sure you will needa visa to live there, not to mention all the buisness permits to open a 'resturant'. Secondly you have to realize that even with how big drugs and weed is in amsterdam, there are a LOT of coffeeshops so there is a lot of 'competition' not to mention that the market is saturated.

I wouldnt reccomend trying to open one, if your going to take a trip to amsterdam let it be a trip for pure leasure and fun, not for buisness. Have fun in amsterdam nonetheless.
