if they are good shrooms then 2 grams is about the threshold level, any less and its more of a huge body high and vibrant colors. 3.5 g's (an 8th) is allot for a first experience, if you have had experience with Entheogens then and your comfortable taking more then do it. But you'll have a great time on 2g's

Foop is right, if you feel comfortable some time after ingesting 2 g's and you want to explore deeper then eat some more. better to start small and then add, as opposed to going balls to the wall from the get go.

an 8th is not a given amount its a set weight, you need a scale to make sure its an 8th, you will never be able to tell just by looking at it. If your hook is good he will weigh you an 8th, if you want to be sure its an 8th go over to him and tell him you want one. If the guy is good then he will weigh it out infront of you. Otherwise find one of your friends who has a scale and see if you can borrow it (but seriously there only like $25, its best to have your own). Bring your friends scale with you and check to see if the bag weighs out

a good rule of thumb is 1g shrooms per 100lb body weight. if you don't have a scale or can't see it weighed out, you'll probably get screwed over. don't buy unless you see the weight.

make sure they're BONE dry too. wet shrooms make it easy to rip people off.


figure about an 1/8 DRY for two people or 30 - 35g wet. (its about a 10:1 wet to dry dose)

I'm an old head and started picking shrooms out of cow shit back in the early 80's.
IMHO, the folks telling you too jump light your first time are right! Everyone has a different sensitivity level to shrooms, especially their first time. Definitely stay in the 1.5g to 2g range.
Here's some other things to consider....
There can be a BIG difference in the strength of different strains of shrooms. If the guy you are picking up from has a really strong strain, 1.5 grams could feel like 3-4 grams of another strain. The first time I pick up shrooms from a new source, I dose light for this reason.
Also, in case you have a bad trip, have a friend who IS NOT going to trip stay with you while you trip.
It's not a bad idea to smoke some after you eat shrooms, it usually calms people down so they don't hyperventilate or get scared when they start tripping hard. Anything that excites you in a negative way can turn a good trip bad. However, since it's your first time, I wouldn't smoke during your trip. If you really want to know what a shroom high feels like, don't have anything else in your system when you trip.
And have your buddy who is not tripping hold your bag of shrooms for you after you dose. Let him/her decide an hour later if you need another gram of shrooms or not. You might be tripping hard from your first dose already, but decide to eat the whole sack of shrooms anyway. A lot of stupid shit seems perfectly logical when your tripping, which is why it's a good idea to have a buddy who is not tripping watch over you.

Well its pretty much impossible to gauge how much the caps weigh, but you should just split em with a few buddies. Take em with some orange juice and vitamin c tablets... it will make your trip more intense.
