Most Unique Pipe, whats yours? - Page 3

I used the base of a Caribou Antler that I collected from a river bed. It is not completely petrified but is much more dense than newly off the skull.

(I used the Base where the antler connects to the skull)

I think I will show how this one will be made.

Maybe I can get some insite on what looks better during the steps.

I plan on having an insert where the bowl is that will be made of ivory as to not allow the antler to be exposed to high heat. The neck as you will see is cut, the flames design work will flow into the next material used to continue the length of the stem.

Unsure on what I will be using for that material.

i like making traditional cherokee and seminole peace pipes, but i have a lot of trouble finding quality materials. everything gets so humid that things are decomposing not petrifying! any idea where i could find soapstone?

I could send some your way, but it would have to wait untill summer. We have an abundance of jade as well. Just stay in touch and Ill do what I can to help fellow artisans.
Oh, and pay the shipping..sending rocks from Alaska to Seminole country can not be cheep...

that creek is beautiful! just like those pieces. I've always wanted to carve, perhaps I should get some soap stone. I dont think there is a natural abundance of ivory around Pennsylvania hehe
