The only way they work is when you get rid of your stash of weed (I smoked about 1/4 in two days to get rid of my stash) and tell all of your smoking friends that you are taking a break for whatever reason and tell them to support you. If they really are your friends they should support your decision and will help by not tempting you by calling you up to blaze or anything.
Atleast those are the only ways they work for me. If you can have a bag of bud and have your friends call you up looking to blaze and go a couple weeks without smoking more power to you. I just would rather take away all chances of smoke and not set myself up for failure. |

i smoked everyday for about 4 years (with maybe like a 1-3 day break every now and then from droughts or lack of money)....at the end of last semester i took a motnh long T-break and here's how it went down
cold turkey....the first three days or so i was craving hardcore...everything i thought about i was just like i wish i was high...i even smoked my first ciggarette cuz i wanted to smoke something so badly... after thise first few days you kind of get used to the unfulfilled craving and kinda learn to deal with it but it still sucks after that you start to realize how fuckin clear your head is...you can think more fluently and you start to actually feel kinda good...self esteem rises (and although you may not have low self esteem to begin with - i didnt - you still feel a noticeable rise in your mood)...it helped a lot during finals... then i started going through a weird phase i like to call "sober enlightenment"....this was like the 20 day mark...and being sober actually felt really good...i found that i could still enjoy everything to the fullest and possibly even more...i started being MUCH more productive...within that month i brought up one of my grades that i really needed, got a great part-time job, and got a new band together...i was just a lot more motivated..starting eating healthier (though i have always eaten healthy) and going to the gym....i was much more optimistic as well...and trust me i'm a pretty high spirited guy to begin with....it's hard to explain this whole phase but it really felt great at like 25 days, very close to the end i started thinking about a sober life...an honest sober life...i dont think it would have ever crossed my mind before but the way i felt was so unexpectedly good i just wanted it to stay... but as the days got closer to the end of the month i just started getting real excited...i knew i was going to be so high (i had a gram of Kali Mist waiting for me)...and right when i got back from my last final i blazed a joint to my dome and got SOOO fucking lifted...i'm talkin miles high here during all of winter break i was back to the normal blazing anywhere from 5-10 times a day with my close friends (i was in Flordia for a bit too at my boy's apartment which was straight as hell)...and now im back at school and on another T-break! yup...this ones for two months (until spring break)...i kinda just got passed the crave phase...but going through it all the first time is making this one infinitely easier reflecting back on it I realized that smoking every day as much as i did, although it felt great, was kind of a waste.........its like the whole "too much of a good thing"...after a while when you smoke as much a i had, as i'm sure some of you do, your high shows signs of definte weakening....and a T-break is the best cure to restore your high....getting high after the T-break was like going back to the early days and it felt so good, rejuvinating even in the end it is DEFINITELY worth it...the hardest part is getting started i forgot to mention i have 3 roomates who smoke just as much as i do (did), and were always blazing around me and i found it interesting htat whenever they were actually blazing i thought it was easier to say no to it..like if there was actual bud in front of me i could say no, but there were times in those first days that merely thinking about it would kill me....anyway, that was my experience with it and i actually grew a lot from it...i continue to eat healthy (not crazy healthy but like salads for lunch, lots of water throughout the day, fruit with meals, wheat breads instead of white ones, and no eating after around 10 at night) and work out on a regular basis but trust me, i still love MJ can't wait till spring break but in the meantime i'm not too bummed

Personally I take tolerance breaks pretty well. There are times when I just wanna blaze though. But when your not blazed you find other ways to have fun and enjoy yourself. Which is good I think because if an herb completely ran my life, I wouldn't appreciate it as much as I do. But to stay on topic, tolerance breaks are definitly worth it. Theres no point finishing that 8th the same night you buy it just to get a little baked. At least thats how I see it anyway.
