". . . Love is no hot-house flower, but a wild plant, born of a wet night, born of an hour of sunshine; sprung from wild seed, blown along the road by a wild wind. A wild plant that, when it blooms by chance within the hedge of our gardens, we call a flower; and when it blooms outside we call a weed; but, flower or weed, whose scent and colour are always, wild!" ~John Galsworthy - "The Forsyte Saga"~ |

AK, with every passing day I read your thought provoking words and can't wait for you to have a spot on our website. The ways in which your words are articulated can make any person double-take and read it again. no way, I just looked this up and your right, they changed the law to include fresh mushrooms, seemingly in about 2005, but I could swear I bought them fresh from a certain market in Glasgow, after 2005.........maybe wrong though, bummer about that happening, but it says that one type of mushroom is still legal http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4691899.stm
it says at the bottom of the link......... ""Now that they're class A if people are found in possession the ultimate, if unlikely, sanction is seven years in prison and a fine." The law change does not affect another, much more rarely used magic mushroom: Amanita muscaria - more commonly known as Fly Agaric. maybe it was these that I bought!................Peace out..........Sid ![]()

here's something I found on Erowid while looking for the U.K. mushroom laws.........it's the Netherlands law for Cannabis..............
Netherlands # Although cannabis is technically illegal to possess and sell in the Netherlands, the government does not prosecute individuals (over 18) who smoke cannabis. Possession of less than 5 grams or growing of less than 5 plants will not be prosecuted. Certain cafes/coffee shops are allowed to sell cannabis and hold 100 grams behind the counter and another 500 grams in the back. Paradoxically, we have received unconfirmed reports that coffee shops are not allowed to legally purchase cannabis. In March of 2003, the Dutch government changed the law to allow doctors to prescribe cannabis for medical purposes through pharmacies. BBC Sep 2003. On Jan 1, 2008, Dutch police will officially be disallowed from smoking cannabis while off duty. Dutch police complain it is their right to smoke cannabis while off-duty, Dec 15 2007, DailyMail. here's the link http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/liv...n_page_id=1811 Strange laws..........I don't think anyone knows where they stand on it, but when you're there, it doesn't seem to matter at all, and if memory serves me well, I'm pretty sure it's Illegal for cops to stop and search you for no reason. Peace out................Sid

[11-24-2007, 12:15 PM They Call it a City by the Sea - Part 1]
I wasn't in a hurry to go anywhere that morning--my highs have seen the glory of--so I laid around and watched television, sleeping when I wished, dreaming too until I felt as if the day were going to slip away from me with sun catapulting over yonder. I got up, dressed about 9:45 AM and sleepily made my way to Lost in Amsterdam to smoke some buds and do some writing. I gently sliced up some of my NYC Diesel and added a pinch or two of hashish for the kick you understand? Lit it and felt the uncommon inspiration rolling into my fingertips like sick imperfect impulses inching me into infinity.
"Tourist Familiaris" revisited? I left around noon to hurry back for a boat tour that was scheduled to leave around the same time. When I walked (floated?) up to the dock I could see all the filled seats of bundled sightseers. For days I'd admired the canals and was truly interested in taking one of the tours to see more, but the sight of all the various tourists from around the world had previously made me shy away. Sometimes one has to swallow one's pride in order to move forward right? Whatever... ![]() [Canal Tours] I boarded the crowded boat--tourist--and took my seat in the back like a rebel school boy--you fucking tourist stop trying to act tough. There were Germans chattering, Americans giggling, Italians eying everything, ugh. Many other human animals from around the world also filled the seats but they were all there for the same reason so who cares? It's interesting to see that even though all these people were from many different cultures they still had a strand of commonality that moved through them, a singularity of curiosity that extended no further than the heated confines of the boat. The tour was conducted in several languages, all of which I ignored. Any history of the canals I could read up on for myself at a later date, I was more interested in getting a better view of the city from a watery vantage point. As the boat chugged along the canals by the houseboats with house sitters sitting watching the paying people play at seeing them in a different way, I wondered how many bicycles had found their way to the bottom of that murky water. [Dead and buried bikes?]

[11-24-2007, 12:45 PM They Call it a City by the Sea - Part 2]
O-o-h Child Ooh-oo child, things are gonna get easier Ooh-oo child, things'll get brighter Ooh-oo child, things are gonna get easier Ooh-oo child, things'll be brighter Some day, yeah We'll put it together and we'll get it all done Some day When your head is much lighter Some day, yeah We'll walk in the rays of a beautiful sun Some day When the world is much brighter ~The Five Stairsteps~ As the boat turned and spun I cranked up my Ipod to drown out the hollow reverberations of tourist babble, the song "O-o-h Child" by the Five Stairsteps lightly siphoned into my eardrums and reminded me to think positive. My thoughts once again drifted toward marijuana legalization and where it's at. It isn't enough to be opposed to something, but one must stand for something, hopefully something that creates a solution instead of a polarizing antithesis. The world is in need of highly motivated thinkers that are solution oriented not more social critics. People generally know what's wrong with the world, but how many work hard on behalf of solutions? How many people today are willing to not just openly criticize governments but highlight the possibilities that are inherent in all of our choices both good and bad? Isn't that a flaw that is inherent in our struggle to have the rest of the world, if not accept, but understand our marijuana usage? Many of my friends that use cannabis turn their noses up to law enforcement and greater society because they oppose its use but offer little in the way of advancing understanding beyond their individual right to smoke. When I look at everything that's wrong with societies all around the world, the daily struggle of the average man, human rights and most importantly environmental issues it becomes all too clear to me that there are more things in the world than just weed. If we could somehow piggyback our cause onto something everyone could identify with like the environment maybe we might be taken a bit more seriously. I would liken this issue to running around a burning house trying to find your car keys instead of trying to get out to save your life. The world is on fire with critical life threatening issues, we need to see this and react appropriately. I believe it's vitally import that our community not only organize for protests and marches but come together to examine our use of the sacred plant. Too many smokers are just out for themselves and could care a less about the impact of their actions. How many smokers did I see in the Dam that were utterly stupefied by their weed and as a consequence acted like complete buffoons, more than a few; behavior that prompts the Dutch people to post a lot warnings about the dangers of excessive cannabis use. All of this reflects poorly on us as a community, and this is in a country that views marijuana as essentially a harmless release. Imagine what many closed minded Americans think? We smokers aren't powerless we can come together and responsibly discuss these issues and maybe craft a code of proper conduct. If others saw we were equally as outraged as they are about marijuana abuses, society might listen more intently to our appeals, just maybe... In all of my thinking I didn't even hear the boat slowly motor up to the dock. I quickly assisted a group of Italians snap a group photo, left the boat, and headed back into the City looking for Coffeeshops. The plan for the next day would be a look into the Red Light District and I wanted to be nice and budded when I did that.
