who should pay for breaking my bong?

alright, heres the details. a friend of mine takes watch of my bong at his house. today we got done having a smoke session out of it and after we got done and i was leaving i said to take it back inside to his room, i dont want anyone smoking out of it. i left and went home. right after i left they smoked another bowl outta it and he told everyone not to touch the bong. ends up a girl knocks it over and it breaks right on the joint of the bong. i talked to the both of them and i feel it should be paid back 50/50. that being my friend wasnt fully responsible and didnt take it back to his room after i left and that the girl broke it. she actually said she would pay it back to me fully because she had never broken someone elses glass before and she feels bad but it would take some time, while on the other hand my friend doesnt wanna pay a dime. i feel fine with the girl paying it back fully, but at the same time the bong wasnt suppose to be out after i left and what i had told to my friend. so should i just stick to the 'you break you buy' policy or should i hold my friend responsible for some of it and make him pay at least half?

this is what i was thinking. she clearly offered me the money back, so why not take it. as for my friend, ive lost some faith in him over this incident and how he handled it, so i cant trust him much with any of my property anymore

get the girl to pay for it. yeh its the other guys fault too, but if hes not going to give you anything and be a dick about it then just let her. she is the one who broke it, and they both smoked out of it when you said not too. more her fault than his.

50/50 IS FARE you told him to put it away. he didnt she broke it. simple its equal faults. dont lay it all on him he was stoned. Dont blame it all on her cause if he would have put it away than this would not have happened. so each played a part. 50/50. zongs break extremely easily.

yeah the 50/50 is fair, but she did tell me she would pay for it entirely, so if she offered to pay for it all ill take that, tho i wish my friend would realize his mistake and help fund me, but hes being a bitch bout it.

ive seen a zong just snap outta no where and thats one thing i dont liek bout em is cause they are fragile, but $80 for a second hang one that looks as good as this one does would be a hard thing to let go. it looks something like this one...

this is funny thread. if i was your friend and you asked me to pay 50% i would laugh at you. the girl breaks it, and because its her fault she assumes the blame and offers to pay 100%, but you insist on making your friend share in the fundage? if i was your friend i would say get off my nutz shes gonna pay you why you trying to make me pay. if you get `100% of you money thats all that matters. had she not broken it there would be no problem with him hitting 1 bowl even though you asked for it to be kept safe.......

Well, the owner of the bong said that he didn't want ANYONE else to use it. But the guy looking after it didn't listen to the owners instructions. Therefore it is his fault also.
