Dank pickup, but no smell??

Alright so i just picked up about 1/8 of this shit. It looks really freakin dank, a bunch of little light light green nugs, absolutely covered in trichs. But when i opened up the bag to smell, i had to get pretty close to the bud to smell much at all. And usually when i get good nugs like this, the smell is overwhelming.

I'm thinking that it all has to do with grow conditions, and how it was cured. Any help?
Have you guys gotten well known strains of dank that you know are supposed to smell good, but dont really smell at all? Hopefully it's just the growing, and not much potency is affected..

dude the leprechauns stole your odor! those little fuckers always do that to me if i leave my sack out in the open overnight, you gotta put a lil sack of oregano on the counter and stash your shit somewhere else to fool em. . . .

I'd have to say that is just wasn't cured properly. Try keeping it in an air tight jar for a week or 2 and it should start to become quite stinky.

Maybe you got ripped off. There is that legal bud, but it has no smell. It looks like dank shit, but its fake. My friend showed me this once when he ordered it. Who knows, i could be wrong though.

Yea i'm thinking it may have just been left out too long. It was the last 1/8 of his bag.

And it definitely isnt an herbal smoke haha. This is the guy i always go to when i get tired smoking the mids and need some dank.

I put it in some tupperware in hopes to bring back some of the the odor.

Like I said in another thread, I'm so used to the smell of pot, unless it's unusually skunky, I have a hard time smelling it.

Might that be the case?

Well haven't you tested it out? If it gets you high/stoned, you're good. heh.

I would feel short changed if I had some beautiful nugs without getting to waft the smell to my happy nose, but I wouldn't be concerned. IMO Peak 19 has very little smell and that shit sky rockets me to the moon.

in amsterdam alot of the bud seems to have been engineered ot have very little smell, smell != dank and dank != smell in all cases.

It's been probably left out too long. I have had some diesel that smelled like pure gas station/skunk hybrid but after leaving it out for a while, the smell faded to almost nothing.

Also, about 7 years ago i had a friend with a large hebrew nose (i can say it cause im black) and he smelled the SHIT out of a dank bag and we all laughed very hard when we realized he just smelled the aroma out of the entire bag.

The stuff you got could of been sprayed with a chemical so that it wouldn't smell. It happened to me before and I know people who have gotten bud with windex sprayed on it to hide the smell.

i dont know he said it but ya i can smell any other weed perfectly but when i got skunk i have ot go up really close so i can smell the odor..

Genetics has everything to do with how certain bud smells. From what I've researched, more indica based strains tend to be more smelly while the satva based strains have a more subtle odor (I'm going to go ahead and say one of my references was either from The Cannabis Grower's Bible, the Cannabis Breeder's Bible or on this website in another forum). For a while I always assumed the more potent smelling bud was the best bud, but we've tested (and researched!) that out to be more so a rumor than anything.

I have smoked some pretty dank bud that didn't smell that strong at all. Fuck, one of the best buds I've ever smoked both visually (high trichome count) and mentally/physically (smoking it) was Purple Queen, and it didn't even smell anything like traditional weed. It was kind of flowery, actually. Did it still get you fucked up? Well, yeah.

Like someone else said, just smoke it. That's really the only way you can truly tell if it's good bud or not.
