smoking immature buds

Has anybody here been so inpatient and clipped off some of these little, immature buds which have started forming only recently?

can you get any high of them? and how that would impact the whole plant?

I've heard of people smoking non-cured buds, which sounds pretty harsh. You'd end up inhaling a lot of steam... which i guess is fine.

But I've never heard of people smoking immature buds... post this in the grower's section, they may be able to give you a little bit more insight into the age-development of THC.


Since buds are the flowers and therefore the reproductive organ, I don't think THC is produced until the cannabis plant is at maturity... but that's just speculation.

someone posted a chart that showed the amount of thc present in the plant during the stages of development of the buds, over time. (it shows both male and female plants on the chart, someone was asking about smoking males)
like, a month ago mabye?
was really informative, and if i remember correctly the immature buds have hardly any THC in them at that stage.
if someone knows what im talking about, they should post it up here.

yeah i've done it.
some bud i had was about 4 weeks into flowering and the stem broke so i dryed it out and smoke it. it got me ripped for sure.
it has no negtive effect on the plant really, because the plant will just focus it's energy on the parts that didn't get cut

u could probably get away if u cured them properly, u will just lose some potency, not really lose, but miss the oppurtunity for more. just my 2 cents

Cannabis contains THC practically from the word go (the first true leaves), though the potency varies wildly over the course of its life. Fully mature buds are the most potent, of course, but I do know one growers who harvests as soon as the hairs change colour because he says waiting "kills the trip".

The nature of the high changes as the buds mature, and gets less "high", and more "full", as the maturing process continues. The old rule about waiting for half to change colour is so that you get a nice balance, I guess. With unknown strains, it's probably worth sampling a few times over the course of the last couple of weeks. Dry and cure them properly before sampling, of course.

Even growing shoots can be quite potent, particularly a couple of days after a full moon (harvested just after a dark period).

Trimming couple of buds won't hurt the plant.

well... I tried it...

I cut the top of one of my plants (the diameter of the bud was about 1cm and the lenght - aprox 2cm ).

Immediatelly I put it in the oven (not microwave) for like 10 minutes.

The result was the crappiest looking weed I have seen:
-It smelled as simple grass - not even a clue of the common marijuana smell, which I would definitelly recognize without problems
-It looked dark green (or even black)
-It felt a bit wet, but as some parts of it was allready too dry, I didnt put it in the oven again.

however, I didnt hesitate for a minute to smoke it... -the smoke was the harshest/untastiest bitch though...

but here comes the awesome part - I got higher than Ive been for like last 3 months...

i'm growing the plants (2) in closet under 57W (yup, theres no error with my spelling) of fluros by the way...

One time,me and my buddy smoked some of his dad's buds that were drying in his closet after being cut.
We got stoned,but the herb took a long time to burn and the high definitely wasn't as pleasant as it was when we actually waited for the buds to finish drying,be cured,and everything else.
