The future for human's in space (Practical, not sci)

Basically encompasses all the problems with our current occupation of space, our future occupation in space, and what exactly we need to do to overcome it.

Definitely sad that we have to rely on commercial enterprises for our industrialization of space, rather then the governmental agencies that have been dragging their feet for the past 50 years. Especially when industrializing space means infinite, cheap, global energy solutions by way of SPS's

... except the colonies part. that method of dispersing ourselves to more baskets has always yeilded lots of trouble. we need a new model if we are to get out there.

I think for now the government channels won't let it become commercialized because it's too useful of a tool for them.

I see the future of space as being militarized, not commercialized.

*edit* What am I saying? It's already militarized, but I only see it becoming more militarized.
