A little theory I pondered about nature

Over the weekend I was at the beach calmly looking at the seagulls fly with the wind. I noticed their wings and then thought of all the crazy machines we built trying to fly. Then I thought, if birds didn't have wings, but still could fly some other way (physically possible, that is) I could say that today, up in the sky, that our planes would not have wings. I then thought how nature masters everything: physics, tactics, maneuvering.. we humans adopt these traits to our advantage: i.e.: camouflage.

With this in mind I thought if us, humans, studied nature at the most ability, we can find out every single question we've had, such as what are we doing here on Earth, what is our purpose, who are we? As I said, I believe nature itself has all these answers. Anyone else have any opinions about this? Don't flame I'm a bit stoned (and I was stoned on the beach, too. I suggest you go to the beach stoned. Magnificent.)

I'm not sure if we would find a purpose, but we'd definitely find an infinite amount of mechanisms to further our exploration into purpose.

I believe that even if there were no birds, we'd have figured out flight anyway since plane wings and bird/insect wings are rather dissimilar. the only thing they really have in common is the basic triangular shaped surface with airfoils to create lift. Their mode of function are very different (organic is flapped, mechanical is fixed). I think we'd have found the same properties as from a child throwing a sheet of paper into the air.

Yeah I realized that later on that the shape of a wing and lift, etc isn't that complicated... but who knows :P

You might be right, it might not be able to answer all our questions, but it might be able to answer quit a few.. and who knows again, maybe if we deeply study everything about nature and it's relations, we can figure out the truth about everything we have ever thought. I'm going to start paying a LOT more attention to nature itself and report back :P

Yeah, you should definitely do that. Microscopes are macroscopes...

i believe we got the idea of traveling by flying because we have observed birds that fly, the idea of camouflaging in war and stuff from animals who use camouflage for protection, killing from Darwin's Survival of the Fittest theory, different medicines from plants and animals (they say sea stars have anti-cancerous chemicals), fruits and plants providing the essential vitamins for life, and so much more. nature is very significant when it comes to the study and evolution of new things.
