The fucked up thing about modern breeding is that breeders will inbreed dogs to maintain certain traits at the dogs detriment. Most purebred bulldogs have to be born via c-section because their heads and jaws are too big for the birth canal. Most purebred dogs also have breed specific genetic disabilities caused by inbreeding. Dalmations have the tendency to be born deaf, I believe Golden Retrievers have skin issues and so on.

The relationship between humans and dogs is a win-win situation. We keep them fed and warm, they give us unconditional affection and maybe some work (Hunting, shepherding, tracking) in return.

Much as the relationship between our rulers, the cats, and us.
i agree, it is amazing how all the different types of dogs, from chihuahua to great dane, all descended from a common ancestor. Humans and artificial selection changed the species drastically in only a few million years, which is almost nothing in geologic time. Small yappy rat dogs like chihuahuas etc are an atrocity. They aren't good healthy dogs because of the lack of genetic variation. Actually most people spend $ for pure breed dogs, when mixes are actually more healthy because of the genetic variation...

you got any sources for that man?

my family's been breeding dogs for years and ive never heard of cesarean sections being performed on bulldogs.

yes you are correct about the genetic defects,

but any breeder worth a damn has will eliminate that trait from their parents.

for example, the Bullmastiff is a breed that is very susceptible to hip dysplasia; over the last 11 of the 32 years we have been breeding, we are now proud to say that none of our litters has had any problems with dysplasia.

the problems are caused by inferior breeders, not inferior breeds.

complete fucking hogwash.

it all depends on the quality of the breeder.

Actually it is more like 15.000-20.000 years ago that we got pet wolves and bred them into (what would become) cuddly dogs. About the same time we got agriculture really. Hell, even modern humans are only some 150.000-250.000 years old, depending on what goalpost one use.

Just your timescale is a bit off. That's all
