We aren't advancing fast enough. If we were truly more advanced we would have 0 emissions cars everywhere, and cheap, free energy. Also 90% of the world wouldn't be distracted from humanity with spending their whole lives believing in a god. And while those scientists are working very hard to advance humanity with amazing technologies and advancements, god praisers see them as evil beings out set to destroy the world. Technology is going to destroy the world right? No it won't, it will save the world. If anything it will be some god praiser who uses nuclear weapons and starts a global war ultimately destroying most of humanity because he wants to gain control of some religious land.

Remember advanced technology would be safe for the environment and run from a very efficient energy source. We are NOT technologically advanced. Compared to 200 years ago...yes, but we have just begun to advance technologies.

its not so much that we are advincing technologically too quickly. we could easily advance technologically MUCH more quickly.

it is that our consciousness, our spirituality, or ethical progress is too stifled to keep up... for many of us. this is the area that change is required.

preventing or holding back some area of developement doesnt make sence to me lest there be no means to augment the other aspects' progress to catch up to bring back into alignment and balance with the whole.

am i responsible enough to use the most empowering advanced technologies we know exist?

You could blame anything, but that wouldn't be getting much done.

Digit's right in what he said (lol imagine that).

Part of the reason for this is because technology is capable of giving people power. And in this world driven by ego maniacs, personal power is prized above anything else.

methink it look like that changin tho.

co-operative and balanced aproaches are gaining strength and popularity over old dead and dying power addiction dominator crap.

the "power with" rather than the "power over".

.... i prefer not to think that i'm ever "right". doesnt seem to do well for considering the possibilities. i actually prefer it when folks "prove" me wrong. at least then i'm closer to learning something.

ahh the future tech... like digit said people are too grooved on their religous ethics to allow stem cell research. its obviously the most important medical advance in recent histroy. not just for stem cell research, it goes into every facet of culture... sadly.

it should be interesting seeing overpopulation, world industrialization, peak oil, nuclear war, climate change ect... all collide and what technologies humanity will come up with. it seems like a slipery slope and if things arent run right there could be problems but i have some faith in humanity to overcome.

yeah, that's why i really like the dao. taoism hasnt lost it's understanding. a daoist [taoist] allows understanding to come, rather than deluding into thinking better is already known and projecting own interpretations prematurely. stem cell research to a daoist is knowledge already taught in practical daoism, .... "turning the water wheel", is said to juice you up with your own pool of life [stem cells].

and not just in self professed daoists. in many.

Bill Gates contains no intelligence, so he's nothing too much to worry about.

Anybody forgetting that Bill Gates was (is?) a shrewd businessman, that never hurt anyone and even is the biggest, bar none, philantropist of our time. Not just showering money on exciting developmental programs in less than fortunate parts of the world, but also furthering scientific research in various and vital areas.

As is almost a "tradition" of Microsoft billionaires. Paul Allen is another great philantropist, and Microsoft founder.

You can say anything regarding Windows or the monopolist strategy of Microsoft, but that is a company furthering its product and interests for the benefit of its stockholders. The integrity of Gates, Allen et al, is another subject all together.

Seriously, who can complain about non-believers donating billions to help human plight here and now and securing advances for the future. Mother Theresa never sacrificed a dollar. Much less helped anyone but herself, her nun-order and church. How selfish.

im more worried about our inability to advance spiritually.

the average person's third eye is so clouded it might as well be nonexistent.
