Sallam.

my Utopian thread has officially begun!

my ideal envision:

blades like you sir... and you sir.....

... and you my lady... that's right bud you too!

Grasscitizens may or may not choose to post something they know about Islam, a Muslim they know or have met, or an experience related to. Lets see where the void is. we want to aim at finding where exactly, precisely the actual void is.

now for the stuff that makes sure other stuff does not stuff, what otherwise should be, a positively stuffed thread.
...stuffing, say it.

a little perspective from my side: some things are not obviously negative so if someone posts anything offensive to anyone then lets not assume that they also see it as a demeaning thing.

let us then explain to them why or why not the statement is so.

not everyone will agree.... initially. that is what is required. we need to have these exchanges of ideas because I believe all of our perspectives together is something all of us can benefit from.

will be posting, as should any blade who is interested, any positive text that will benefit us as a community. this can only bring about understanding. it will be done with good intentions.

one last thing! I would love for anyone to post anything positive and we will all consider it to go towards bringing positivity in life and that will be something of a sideline neutral positive moment within whatever current learning experience we are going through

Positivity will tell us when to start :)
so do you dig it?

Surah An-Nur (The Light)

Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth,
The parable of His Light is as if there were a niche,
And within it a Lamp: The Lamp enclosed in Glass;
The glass as it were a brilliant star;
Lit from a blessed Tree,
An Olive, neither of the East nor of the West,
Whose oil is well-nigh luminous, though fire scarce touched it;
Light upon Light!
Allah doth set forth parables for men: and Allah doth know all things

Wanna lay some concepts out that may seem confusing

Allah is the Arabic concept of Supreme. The reason we choose not to use the word 'God' is because there is a plural form of it. you could write gods or goddess. but there is no plural concept of Allah in Arabic. when we use the phrase it is understood as pure

In order to understand a Muslim's perspective of the concept, think about something that is no laughing matter to you at all. something serious. Now in that mind set you know that there are so many things we do not understand. now think about perspective. how something so minute can seem so large for another life. how the ocean is vast and the lessons the wind blow. how we cannot even perceive a mile let alone a light year...
that pure feeling.

now ponder over what we are discussing here
can feel the scale is not comprehend able.

In the Quran, among many things, we have lessons from the previous civilizations. Quite literally there will be stories that have an enormous relevance to today. lessons for all times.

We hold the view that if learned objectively the true Islam is the better way of life. and yes in a unique way from how a person would be like, "have you heard that song? no? maybe cause its too underground."

This does not mean the way of life. Nor does this mean the only way of life.

Way of life:
(try to resist the urge to get the images in the head. Even I get em. but try to fight)

Islam means: 1. 'coming to complete submission'. i.e. Journey
2. way to peace

The way it is usually worded is, 'Complete submission to Allah.'
which is beautiful because when you bring into account everything else you know, everything is beautiful. as long as objectivity is maintained the subjective makes its own path.

gradual change in oneself. it comes after we learn to take basic simple care of ourselves. fulfill the right we have upon this body we have been given. this vessel to experience.

The verse below is an Ayah from the Quran. An Ayah is a sign, proof, commandment, law, rule or guidance. I will spend time reading it and thinking about it's relevance to individual perspective.

The first part reveals to us our deceptive labeling.
then we are brought together with a common purpose. one without any religious relevance. to bring about righteousness or to avoid the evil.
The last part binds us together into a group called Humans...not just any humans but humans with a purpose... fear and sorrow are subjective...

all of it dealing with perspective.

There is way too much lost when translating to a different language yet I hope it benefits us in some way.

Those who believe, those who are Jews, and the Christians and Sabaeans, all who believe in Allah and the Last Day and act rightly, will have their reward with their Lord. They will feel no fear and will know no sorrow.
(Surat al-Baqara, 62)

There is a lot to share and learn; please contribute.
any mistakes were mine

local project for Fox News College Challenge
Those students provided an opportunity for dialog. The Muslim Student Assoc. of UT in Chattanooga was asked to provide comments after watching a video. lol the clips they presented to us before the session were way worse than what they decided to put in the actual video. good idea:smoke:
wo wo wo wo wo wo wooooo. must have missed a lot of quotes taken out of context the first times watched, there are a LOT.

whatever negativity you hear, although brief seems more like using words in a clever way to promote the differen... wait. okay the comment on Christianity was supposed to be a personal question to the interviewer... off camera and to make a personal point to her. o well, take what good you can find

i liked this, its a interesting way to view God...perhapes a much more approprate way to view him, also much differently from how i tend to view him

i think its hard for us westerners to understand the somber additude muslem have towards god, its very different from the christian view point which tends to be more casual, as most christians are not even true to there proclamation of faith, its like a fun password to say to get into a club

we tend to forget to fear the lord

Here's another firmament to dedicate yourself and time to

Surah Al-Iklas (You will usually hear this surah during any congregational or communal prayer for its the most famous and most recognized surah in the Quran and most importantly a Muslim's heart)

In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Say: He is Allah, the One and Only!
Allah, the Eternal, Absolute;
He begetteth not nor is He begotten.
And there is none like unto Him.

A Hadith relating to this surah. (The Hadith is The Way of Life the Prophet (PBUH) followed so naturally all followers of Islam tend to be like him, as Issah (Jesus Christ) taught the word of Allah (SWT) amongst the people with the help of his apostles.)

Imam Malik bin Anas has said that `Ubayd bin Hunayn heard Abu Hurayrah speaking:
"I was walking with the Prophet and we heard a man reciting "Say: He, God, is One" The God's Apostle said: "It is inevitable" I asked "what?": He responded: "Paradise."

all my fellow students of knowledge,
glad to feel the love.

the following video is of a recent debate "Islam and 21st Century" that took place at Oxford University on Feb. 11, 2011. it was followed by a Q&A session.
promoted by Peace TV it occurred via live satellite video feed.

the speaker,Dr. Zakir Naik, is a medical doctor who is also a public speaker and writer on the subject of Islam and comparative religion.

everything in the video is referenced throughly. we owe it to ourselves to learn more about the way of life that 20% of the world's population chooses.

O mankind! We have created you all out of a male and a female, and have made you into nations and tribes, so that you might come to know one another. Verily, the noblest of you in the sight of God is one who is most deeply conscious of Him. Behold, God is all-knowing, all-aware.

(Qur’an 49:13; Surah or Chapter ‘The Rooms’).

You have to understand that I mean to say this with the best intentions b
Purelife but you seem more prideful in posting this video rather than intending to humble rather as to say I am proud of holding this position of not challenging what is given before rather I humbly accept for there are those that know better than me. While this may be true, if a piece of knowledge does not agree with your reasoning and principle, will you still accept that there are those who know better thus you must thrust your reasoning and principle outside the window and accept what a scholar has said for he has done many years of study on the topic, and even without a title the title remains so automatically he is right? This is very hypocritical and close minded thinking and the brother reminds me of those who are more concerned of the appearance and trim of their beards. The Truth is a Precedent for All, and it is a very foul and timid gesture for one to think the Truth can only be seen through him, when there are those who have shown him Truth, and the Spirituality of Nature has shown them the Truth. Why should anyone be vexed by a middleman in his limited understanding who expects everyone to be like him because he has become the model example of a humbled sheep? I do not deceive my eyed nor do they deceive me. This is an intellectually disingenuous claim to ask others to adhere to speaking mum and be good with it because others know best. No shit others know best. For them. That's how they learn to maneuver within the world. Maybe one day you'll pierce that superficial understanding. I thought I was wrong before in my post in the other thread, but it always easy to forget that there are also snakes within your camp. Sallam

Let me conclude by saying it is completely DELUSIONAL to think 'intellectual humility' as if there is a difference to the application of humility to any action, is somehow a means to and end. That is completely delusional. This is how men become senile and hope for a Savior to come rescue them. As Salaam alaikum brother

You want me to post something I know about Islam? Well, how's this: There's not a single stitch or thread of evidence for Islam:

why does there need to be "evidence?"

ive never understood this line of reasoning. why does a book of scripture need to be historically true to be useful? if it inspires you to do better, is it not useful? if it makes life easier for you, is it not useful? how could we even find out if the koran, or muhammad's story, is true? there were no cameras or tape recorders back then. people who knew him are long dead

i may not believe that muhammad was visited by the angel gabriel, but there is alot of beauty to be found in both the koran and the stories which were told about him. of course there is alot of hate that can be found as well, but those were different times. its wrong to judge it against our current standards

i understand that religion is taken to the extreme alot of times. but for those people who do not take it to the extreme, whats the problem?

If you find beauty in the Koran you are merely cherry picking.

Looked at holistically it is a very dangerous and immoral document that has so many exhortations to violence, the 'kill the jew, kill the unbeliever' hatefulness in it as to be quite disgusting.

Obviously it's metaphysical claims are untrue and who would want them to be?

I've read the Koran, took me 3 years and it is a very bad old testament plagiarisation.

Yes there should be evidence for any philosophy, otherwise it can be twisted into whatever the priests want, just as has been done for the last 1400 years.
