a stoner's best friend: baking soda!

Can't get that dank smell out of your bong? It reeks, doesn't it? You've rinsed a milion times over, and it's still putrid.

Enter: baking soda. Costs less than a dollar for a whole box, and out of the many uses it has in the home, getting rid of funky smells is one of them!

After you've already cleaned out your bong with hot water/soap/rubbing alcohol/salt/whatever, add about a teaspoon of baking soda to your bong. More is not better; this stuff works well in small amounts. Add some water (cold or hot, doesn't matter). Shake, shake, shake yer booty...errr, your bong (DON'T BREAK IT!!!), and empty it out. You can do it once or twice, but I find doing so twice generally does an awesome job. Rinse it out REALLY WELL with cold water as baking soda will leave a white crust film if it's not properly rinsed.

And your done. The smell is completley gone.

good idea. thats something that ive never really even thought about doing. i find that with my bong (only a small glass ~1ft) that letting hot water sit in it for awhile loosens everything up and removes most of the smell with it. Maybe thats because its glass. Nice idea though. I'm gonna have to try it the next time i clean.

Baking soda doesn't smell like anything.

It will work well on glass especially, but I'm pretty sure it'll clean out an acrylic bong too. I use baking soda on my tupperware and it gets it squeaky clean every time.

can i use rubbing alch in an acrylic bong?? my friend did once but the alch broke it, iwas just wondering if anyone else has had this prb. and ill try that bakin soda, thats a good idea.

i tried a mix of bakin soda and oxy clean to get the smell out after I cleaned the hell out of hit.....let it soak for hours...over night at one point, the bottom line is once a bowl is used heavily, there ain't no getting that smell out, its there to stay

I tried this and am very happy with the results and its easy to pack a few tabs in my carrying case.


Polident (or similiar): A denture cleaner makes a bong or pipe taste and smell better for the first few sessions.

alcohol and table salt usually clean mine perfectly. looks like it did when i took it off the shelf to buy it after i clean it.

realdealz - i disagree. ^ use that and the smell will be gone. just fill your bong to almost coming out the female, maybe an inch left. pour a tablespoon or teaspoon, whichever is smaller of table salt in. then plug the holes with toilet paper, napkins...something you don't mind getting soaked with alcohol and shake the hell out of it. rinse it out a few times with water and your piece is brand new again

Didn't work for me, smells just as bad as it did before I tried it. I did it three or four times, no noticeable effect on the smell. Did the bongs you use it on have a thick layer of resin in water chamber?
