Trademarks of Good Bud

Hey all!
Just wanted to start a little dicussion on something i was pondering when stoned.

Heres the deal, I've been smoking for quite a while, and ive come across a lot of bud. But one thing i noticed is not to judge a book (the bud) by its cover (looks). What i mean is that i've picked up some ugly ass shrively looking weed, with hardly ANY crystals, and have it be some of the most potent smoke ever. Other times, i've grabbed what looked to be beautifully semi-crystalled bud with gorgerous hairs, and have it be nothing more than a regular high. So my questions is, too all your experieced stoners, are theier really any TRADEMARKS to look for that instantly tell you, you'll be smoking some great bud???

A characteristic of good bud IS crystals, seeing as how those crystals are THC. Hairs only show that it's a female, which is better than a male but you shouldn't have to worry about smoking males. Nice fluffy, full, and dried buds are usually better than squashed out wet weed. Other than that I don't think that smell, or color can seriously determine if bud is good. If it has tons of crystals, a powerful and delightful aroma, and is nice and plump I will usually assume that it's good weed.

the best bud ive ever had was SOLID BROWN believe it or not, it was amazing, one joint blew me away and i still have yet to get 3/4's as stoned

just a question.
You say the weed that has alot of crystals is a clear indication of good bud. Because the crystals are thc.

Im almost certain i've smoked bud with little to no crystals (at least visable to my eye) and have gotten extremely stoned off of....

either way i like the fact thats theiers mixed opinions.....

Well crystals are MADE OF THC. The lack of crystals does not mean that there isn't plentiful THC in the weed. But weed with crystals on it have that much more THC. It's not like they're the only source of cannaboids in the herb.

Says who? I've seen them at seed banks, they only come in clone cuttings because they're all female. There also a URL posted quite a while back on this board for a G-13 website that had photos, information, etc. It's supposedly the strain that the government grows for medicine, it seems logical that they'd use their unlimited resources to develop an efficient form of weed for medicine.

Yeah, aswell as all the things mentioned before:

I think a strong smell is a good indication of freshness.
Can't be too dry. This means it's old.
Too wet... yuck... you're gettin ripped off cos it weighs more.

Really good dank should smell like wet, dead vegatation. Imagine walking through the rain forest at 4 am (what?). The best stuff I've smoked was dark green with bright red hairs. It was also quite spongy.

I'm willing to believe that som good weed you've smoked smelled like that, but from my experience, most strains of weed have that unique smell... i wouldn't call it a dead smell..... lol

best weed was a dime bag i picked up on campus, the shit was yellow with red hairs on it. That dime bag tore me and friends up.

I mean it just smells wet, and I probably shouldn't assume good dank is always like that, that's just the most consistent characteristic.

I can't speak from experience on this, but I've heard that the US government can't grow very good weed.

So we still have to grow it for ourselves.
