the deal with yellow smoke...

i just posted something in a thread about coughing and it made me step back for a second and truley ponder "why does smoke turn yellow?"

im sure you all know what im tlakingabout and have been there at one time or antoher. you start hittin the bong and rip so hard you look in the chamber and see nothing but yellow smoke... thats when u know its gonna hurt... but WTF is it that turns it yellow? i mean i cant think of anything that would turn it yellow like that. i used to think it was the reflections of light and smoke on glass... but when i looked in the chamber the smoke was truley yellow...

anyone know just WHY hits turn yellow?

I imagine it's just the density of the smoke itself. Perhaps the smoke is always tinted yellow, but until you get a HUGE rip it's not opaque enough to see the true color? I dunno.

Smoked literally thousands of times ... NEVER ONCE seen yellow smoke. Seen red tho, ha, see my thread on that. Anyway, I ain't 100% sure bout the red smoke, but I'm 100% sure on yellow, NEVER seen it. I've smoked j's, blunts, bongs, bowls, chillums, stupid fruit bowls and shit I make, hot-knifing, hash, regs, dros, exotics, mids, you name it ... and yet, never ever ever ever seen yellow smoke. Sorry.

are you guys serious???? everytime i take a huge rip outta a bong it will be yellow smoke because of the density, its not anyhting to do with the weed or anything, but the density of the smoke in however much cubic feet there is

wow... i never noticed it till i smoked from a roor because it was completly clear. jsut kept inhaling and didnt clear. it was a bowl of straight up shake (with a lil bud on the bottom to stop it from being sucked into chamber) and i just kept ripping till my friend said "holy shit its yellow"

since then i noticed if i rip soo hard i can milk my bong a yellowish tint... if i get the time this weekend ill post a milkshot and you can see what i mean but i dont know if ill get the chance

I feel you man the same shit happened 2 me just the other night at a home town fotball game, My wife and I ran into myold high school flame and as I introduced them the past came back to me....... Oh sorry wrong time for that... But yeah it does burn you down when that shit turns yellow. I mean you know it, you can see it fill the chamber, and then COUGH<COUGH< COUGH< Your head is busted.... It depends on the weed, but I've seen it look pretty yellow at times. I think only on bong hits so maybe its down to the tar.

waterhurley, I notice it too. But I notice the orangish color over yellow. I've pointed it out to someone last night that the smoke looked so orangey. I had to find one of Bobbert's old posts to try to shed a little bit of light on the subject matter. -- Sometimes I wonder if it's the thickness of the glass and the lighting, but just know you are not alone.

When i milk a piece like my bubbler or my hammer (for kill hits) it usualy makes the smoke a lot thicker and it gets to that point that it is so thick it sort of looks diffrent then nromal. I think last night it was made worse by the fact and i was dong kill hits on my hamer in a darker room. It made it look a lot more orange then it was. I am suprised no one else notices that iif it is a good strain and if you milk it enough it does sort of change to a diffrent huge. it also has that really weird tingly feeling from the thickness of the smoke. I think tonight I will make a vid of me doing a kill hit and watch it to see if it is orange or if i am just seeing things. The bud i have now is a 2 bowl quitter kind bud, I smoked 2 bowls and i felt fucking stoned.

It might also be that I am a photographer and I have started to become more seensitive to color and light.

Any time you take a really large rip out of a bong or a gravity especially the smoke'll turn yellow eventually. Its just from the thickness of the smoke inside

I think it happens when you take large hits but start very slowly. Because the smoke is being pulled up the top tube when you do it, it goes against gravity. If you chugg very slowly, so it's still bubbling, gravity will act on the smoke and it will sort of gather like a thick fog over the water becuase it is very dense. You can then milk it up to the top so it's yellow.

Here's a video of my friend doing it. The video has speeded up but in 'real time' he milked this bong for 17 seconds. It was glowing yellow.

well i get yellow smoke when i smoke blunts cause its the paper burning so fast, but never in bong. maybe poisions, i hope ur not smoking mexican weed

yellow smoke is nothing new and if you look at bobberts thread and see his milked shot of the his tripple bubbler you will see a yellow tint.
