How To Clean a Piece

Alright so I've noticed this play lacks a FAQ on how to clean a piece, so I figured I'd help out.



Step 1: Assemble The Supplies
What you need for this is:
Rubbing Alcohol: Has to be over 90% though
Sea Salt: It's cheap and plenty, so not hard on the wallet
Q-Tips: Cleans bowls very nicely
Polident (or similiar): A denture cleaner makes a bong or pipe taste and smell better for the first few sessions.
Zip-Lock Bags: Need it for the pipe.
Your Piece: Bong, bowls, pipes is what I cater to here.









Step 2: Clean a Bowl
Cleaning a bowl is very easy, and makes clogging a thing of the past, and gives a cleaner smoke. Just rinse the bowl with hot water under a faucet, which will easily take out some chunks of resin so keep it pointed to the drain hole. After a few seconds, take a Q-Tip and just scrape the whole thing, this easily cleans a bowl, and you'll realize that it's cleaned within a minute of using a Q-Tip.







Step 3: Clean a Pipe
You're gonna need two zip-locks, rubbing alcohol, and sea salt for this. All you have to do is put the pipe into the zip-lock bag, fill it a little bit (just cover your pipe a little) with rubbing alcohol, and put about a 1/4 cup of sea salt. Double wrap the zip-lock (as the bag can explode at times). Just shake that bad boy for about 2 minutes and you'll notice a far cleaner pipe, if not crystal clean. There is something which you can do before the zip-lock part, and that is to rinse the inside of the pipe with hot water, getting all the big chunks out, etc. You can also clean the bowl of the pipe. This makes the zip-lock part much easier and more likely to allow for a perfectly clean pipe. Also, if you want your pipe to taste and smell better for the first few sessions, after cleaning the pipe, get another zip-lock and fill it some hot water (enough to cover your pipe), and put a couple of efferdent (denture) tablets in.







Step 4: Clean a Bong
This is pretty easy. Put a reasonable amount of rubbing alcohol into your bong (it should be fairly low, just enough to swish around), and also put a good bit of salt into your bong. Now just cover all the holes on your bong (if you don't have a plug for a shotholed bong, you probably can't do this), and shake the bong really hard for a couple of minutes, now durng this, the rubbing alcohol helps weaken the resin from your bong, while the salt acts as an abrasive, ripping the resin off. This will result in your bong being delightfully clean, and all you gota do is rinse the bad boy out, and then fill it a little bit with hot water, and put 2-4 denture tablets into the bong, this will leave it cleaned and tastier for the first few sessions.

Quick question though, being the ocd person i am, is there any danger in smoking the piece after u have soaked it in rubbing alc? will hot water get it off or what?

Man, I'm like your self, and trust me, hot water, full blast, a good 30 seconds at least, cleans it well. Or atleast, I and none of the many people who use these have had a problem.

lol well when your smoking super chronic shit lol hot water doesnt work i tried it on my glass pipe thanks for that post bud helped me alot would of never thought of rubbing alc and sea salt nice picturess too

chill out man, there's nothing noob about wanting to find the best way to clean your pieces. plus, we at GC are supposed to embrace noobs, and help them... not bitch them out for asking questions that we already know the answers to.

and yes, definitely +rep, i think you did a good job including pics and everything. good walk-through. this thread might even be sticky material, because blitzed is right, there are a lot of threads made about this.
