I haven't seen any threads like this yet, but i'm sure a lot of us have been busted at some point. The one thing i learned from getting busted is what NOT to do again...so in case anyone can learn from me, here's my busted story.

I was supposed to play a show opening up for one of my favorite local bands. The night of the show, about 20 minutes before i'm supposed to go on stage i get a call from my roomate's cell phone, but it wasn't my roomate. it was the cops. They told me to come by and answer some questions, so i show up at my apartment and there's 6 cops and a drug dog. They told me that there were complaints of marijuana smoke around my apartment, i figured i was busted so i let them search my room and they found my stash. i got off pretty light, i just had to be on probation for about 6 months and do some community service and what not. But if i'd have known my right's i wouldn't have gotten busted in the first place. What i didn't know at the time was that you don't have to let the cops search your place without a warrent. That's the first lesson i learned from my ordeal. So all the tokers out there should definantly read up on their amendment rights and what not.

The second thing i learned (and i also know more about it now cause my girl works at an apartment complex) is that the maintenance guys and people from the front office....they go in your apartment whether you know it or not. even if you think they don't....they are. The cops told me that someone called them saying they smelled weed smoke. Now I know that's complete bull shit. What REALLY happened was that my maintenance guy went in my apartment without telling me, and saw my stash box. I usually keep it under lock, but that day i had just bought a half oz and was late for school so i just tossed it in my room and left. the maintenance guy ratted me out, then the next day he went into my apartment and stole all the cash i had. The cops refused to believe me that someone had stolen my money cause there weren't any signs of forced entry and i had just gotten busted the day before.

if you learn anything from my rambling, learn that you're not safe in an apartment, or really any situation where you rent from someone. so lock up your shit everytime you leave the house, and don't leave anything out. If the cops show up at your door and can see paraphernalia then that's enough to give probable cause and they can then search your crib. that's all i can think about now....if anyone else has any stories about getting busted please share them so i can know what you did wrong lol.

I live in an apartment, but I put my own lock on my bedroom door. It a maintenance guy wants to fuck around in my room, fine, but he's going to have to let me know beforehand otherwise he won't be able to get in.

But fortunatly, I live in an area that's almost all college students. When I went looking for an apartment practically every one of them that the realtor showed me had pot laying out, or bongs, or in one case a recently used partially loaded bong in an apartment that reeked of pot. So I guess my point is that not many landlords/maintenance care around here, since if they did they'd lose most of their renters.

you have a good point my friend. also, i guess it depends on what state you're in too. some places don't care as much. and also in my case, the reason my maintenance guy was in my apartment that day was because i put in a 30 day notice to move out because he was a lazy asshole that never fixed anything....so he was mad at me and when he saw weed i guess he figure it was his chance to get me back.

On a side note....what makes me even mader is that the day my money was stolen, i knew it was him. so i went and found him to confront him about it....i found him in the parking lot installing a new fucking stereo system in his car!!!! then he had the nerve to deny that he stole 700 bucks from me!....but i guess it's my fault for having 700 bucks in straight cash laying around my apartment. since then i got a checking account and now i never have cash...isn't it ironic? don't ya think?

I don't give a fuck what is going on, no searching without a warrant. That includes sitting beside the road-no fucking search without a warrant.
It doesn't matter if I'm holding or not-make it a hassle for the cops. They can only have so many cops sitting on the road waiting for warrants and everyone should make them wait for a warrant. Volunteering for jail will not help you in court one bit, and if it's hid well they may not find it.
As far as no-knock warrants go, I'm like the 88 year old lady in Atlanta-bust thru my door and get shot, and not with a .38 but something that moves a body in the opposite direction.

i hid a little baggy under something while i was baked and 4got about it and my mom found it. my parents wouldn't let me go out on the weekends, but i still got weed and smoked it while i was grounded.

when i was like 14 or 15 i came home from a buddys house and took my shorts off and went to get in the shower and i acidently left a bag and my pipe in my pocket come back to my room and the shorts are gone then i hear my mom yellin for me so i take the lecture and all that shit then she goes and puts it on this top shelf i guess she thought i couldnt reach so about a week later i check to see if its still there and it is so i get my shit back emptey the bag out fill with oregano and put back

I've been stopped by cops when i was stoned and they knew it, but it isn't illegal to be high, only to have weed/paraphanellia, luckily me and my buddy had only smoked a J and tossed the roach

Actually they can get you for DUI

Yes, it is illegal to be high. If they wanted to, they could take you to the station and take a drug test. If you fail, they charge you with possession. However, they usually don't do this simply if they think you're high b/c it's outlandish and against the law to arrest you for "looking high." I'm sure it's been done though. If you're driving and you get arrested, and then they take a drug test and you fail, then you're charged with a DIUD (Driving Under the Influence of Drugs)
