smoking and usage

Well i know i am about to get my head chewed off but here it goes anyway,...
Some of my friends and i were talking. Some own a few roor pieces, prob like 5 pieces between the 4 of us.so,...
What makes a ROOR so special, why are they so great ? Seriously, i have looked and can't find anything that tells about the smoke design and how they are so grand. The Hurricane Brand claim "These are the ultimate in bong design with a vortex filtration system that spins the smoke as you toke to streak the heavier tar molecules onto the glass. It sounds far fetched but it works." Also, Roor only make mention of using the finest quality Pyrex Glass engineered to have a scientific look.
The point is everything roor offers you can get almost the samething for cheaper, just without the roor label. How come every wants a roor? is it just name recognition? people afraid to try something new? scared to be different? or is it just you know what you're getting with a roor?

Honestly more myself then my buddies want to know whateveryone thinks about roor specifically. I am not trying to badmouth Roor, but after re-reading the post it clearly seems that i am

i know they have strict quality control which produces those beautiful pieces, oh well,...

One more thing, isn't the german Roor diffusor supposed to be better than the US diffusor?
Why would this be so, and if anything woulnd't this be the key piece in smoking design?

W/ roor's, you're paying for a brand name. You can get the technology for cheaper, but it wont be a ROOR. for some that will suffice, others gotta go for the status symbol that is the ROOR.

Basically you are paying for the brand name.. Don't get me wrong they are sweet peices, but a bit overpriced for what your getting... I suggest if your looking for something nice, but a bit more affordable to check out the Magic Glass brand bongs.. They have a few sweet multi filtration designs, and you can always purchase a Roor diffuser for them if thats what you like.I get such a laugh when I see people with big Polo, or Nautica logos spelled out accross their T-shirts.. They are trying to be cool, wear cloths people with more $$ buy.. They do not realize that these large companies are targeting lower income people with these cloths that have the brand name written accross in XTRA LARGE LETTERS!!!

yep you pay for the name....at least for the US roors. I honestly believe the authentic german roors are of higher quality than 99% of the glass out there. Since getting a real german roor in the US is pretty expensive....i got the next best thing. And let me tell you...this thing is tough. I have dropped it several time right on the stem with no breakage.....and its still the only bong that gets me smashed after 1 medium size bowl. Plus it was only $160 with the diffusor!!! cant beat that.

where did u get that ^^ how tall is it and can u get them on line looks like a roor but no label i think ive seen some bongs just like that on a site

its 18" tall

I got it at a local place, and it does have a brand name but I cant recall what it was. Somone mentioned to me in another thread it looked like a Spec 69.

That bong is made by GlassonGlassGuy.com. Its a Stock_Straight_18". I was looking to buy the exact same one. It's $160 on his site, but I don't have a Buck 60 to drop on a bong =(.. Very nice piece though!

I wish I had known about this guy's site (glassonglassguy.com) a few days ago, I might have picked up one of those instead of the roor. maybe I'll get a bowl from him or something.

I think with some things, when you pay more you get a better product. It costs more because productions costs are higher, and more care is taken with the product. Popularity and name recognition do drive up prices too. I'm not making any judgements until my roor gets here and I can test it out for myself.

well maybe I should correct what I said. I think if you buy one of the 7mm thickness ROORs with bistabil joints then its pretty safe to say its higher quality than 99% of the glass out there. Not many people make 7mm thick bongs. But do they get you higher?? Well I have smoked out of a green label ROOR with diffusor and ashcatcher and I can honestly say my bong gets me as high if not more.

I have a really nice bubbler, but I rarely use it because my bong is so damn effective.....helps me to converse herb, big time. I rarely do joints or blunts unless im in the mood....any other method just seems like a waste.

I know these two guys who smoke a lot as well, and when I went over to their apartment the other day, they had not one, not two, but THREE broken ROORs on the shelf. All broken in the same exact place, right at the joint where the downstem meets the tube. They arent complete stoner fools either....they take of fine glass just as well as the next guy. These were US ROORs BTW. Suffice to say, I am quite pleased with my purchase....especially considering how much I payed.

The reason ROORs and similar bongs (like the one I have) are able to get you more high is because they are VERY effective at cooling the smoke. The cooler the smoke is, the more you can inhale and the longer you can hold it. ROORs claims their bongs are engineered and scientifically tested to ensure they offer the largest volume of most efficiently cooled smoke. While I believe them, I dont think the benefits are great enough to pay the extra cash.

BTW, I am pretty sure my bong is not made by glassonglassguy.com If you look at the base of mine it is 6 sided....not a circle. And at each corner on the bottom the glass is sandblasted. Plus the ice notches do not appear to be similar. could be wrong however

you can get similar bongs, some even better for much much cheaper.

but the special thing about roors, is that on the chamber, there is this badass logo that says "roor".

hey guys, I'm in the market for a glass bong (I've never owned one) and I just looked at the glassonglassguy.com site. How does the following bong look for $129? What quality do you think that bowl is? Thanks for any help. Also, what does 18.8 glass on glass joints mean? Sorry I'm a bong noob...

looks really nice to me. Should get you extremely high. I like the looks of that bowl also, the perfect size IMO. Not so huge you need to a screen to keep your herb from falling in, but large enough to get blitzed in one bowl or two bowls. Great price also.

be sure to fill it all the way to the top with ice!!
