hookah question

My room mate and I just got a hookah and I was wondering. This seemed like the obvious place to ask so if there's anyone who knows anything about hookahs then i'd appreciate some feedback. When we bought this hookah we bought some hookah tobacco and some self lighting hookah coals. At least that's what they were called in this headshop we were at. This may seem like a stupid question but it would be stupider for me to go on not knowing the answer to a stupid question. To the point. Does it matter what kind of tobacco or coals you use. Obviously it makes sense to toss some pot in there at least every so often. Does it matter what kind of tobacco you use tho? And the coals, do you need special hookah coals, or could you just use barbeque charcoal?

If your smoking bud out of it, just use a regular lighter.
As for the tobbaco, the Hookah Fruit or shisha is the way to go. It comes in a variety of flavors and taste great. You can usually tell the cheaper brands from the better, and the better fruit the better the smoke.

You need to use hookah coals also. They have different types, I hear the wood ones are the best but I've pretty much only used charcoal, they have better brands of coals too, its usually only a couple bucks more so go with that.

yea i am doing some reasearch on hookahs and from wht i have read that it is bad luck to smoke anything else but shesha out of the hookah. they do have different types of coals to use but i think that u can use regular bbq charcoal. if u want some info on hookahs here is a web site for u www.hookahub.com. that should help u out.

Bananna fruit tobacco is awsome. Id recommend it. You def need to buy coals that are made for a hookah tho. You cant use grill charcoal. The charcoal that is used for the hookah has some shit on the outside of it that sparks when you first light it and it gets hot thru that. I forget which ones are good but you should probably just buy some and see which ones burn the best.

Yup I agree pretty much agree with everything everyone has said. My friend bought a hookah in Bahrain and it specifically reads to use hookah coals only. Now that could be because they were trying to make sure you purchased coals from them as well as the hookah, but I just wanted to throw that out there.

If you are smoking shisha then I would def only use the coals. They burn at a much hotter heat and it's perfect for the moist shisha. If you mix weed in with your shisha then you will still want to use the coals. If you are using dry tobacco or weed a lighter is the way to go.
