Please help me to choose a metal pipe (not glass for reasons explained inside)

IL_Duce, exapted said they refer to hash as resin where they live, so its not nasty at all.

I honestly would go for the bowl in your first post. Even if it doesnt look that great, it will still get the job done.

After obsessing about it for a while, I have come to the conclusion that the helixes in the pipes I have considered do basically nothing aside from slowing down the rate of draw, which can be simulated in a normal pipe by simply inhaling slowly. In some of these pipes there is also a much lower surface area of the inner surface of the pipe exposed to the smoke because of the shape of the helix. I'm sure the smoke enjoys going on a roller-coaster before going into the user's lungs but I certainly don't want to pay for the smoke's free ride. What might be better is just a thick rod in the middle of the pipe with low heat conductivity to cause the smoke to be on average closer to the inner surface of the pipe. Or a maze but that necessitates an add shaped pipe. The heat sinks in these pipes might do something although most of that is simply because of the consequent higher masses. I bet a good heat sink would be difficult to make. Maybe I should go into the pipe business or something.

Overall, I am pretty excited about the Raydiator.

sounds like u might be in the military or something of the like. anyway, metal pipes arent exactly going to cool anything, no matter what. in any situation, your putting heat on a conductive material, and the heat is going to spread on it no matter what. id say the helix probably does help keep ash away, but thats also why metal pipes have screens. the piece that you put a picture of before, with the crystally looking stuff in it, is a bong slide. thats pretty much the only way you would get any cooling, is by getting a water filtered piece. you could pick up a small bubbler, but it makes noise and has water, so not so great for your situation.

if i were you, id go with the last piece or the budbomb, cause they have the cover your looking for.

i actually used to have the pipe you first posted, the titanium one with the cover and built in titanium screen - its an awesome pipe, ive heard it was approved for medical use, get that pipe it hits so well

i have this metal one hitter.. works pretty nice. has a cover. very stealthy. cheap. they are probably available at most headshops.

I know plenty about heat dissipation, just ask anything. Steel is a VERY poor conducter of heat when you compare it to Aluminum or Copper (copper being the better of the two.) The slower the hit travels, the more heat that will be removed from the smoke and into the piece. While for many things this is not an issue (for instance cooling of computer hardware, etc,) when you're hitting a piece you want the smoke to get quickly to you, otherwise it'll get stale. The second issue is the fact that your piece will get resinated. With a standard pipe, this is generally not an issue, however, with an air-path that helix's like the pipe you have shown, the resin will built up over a period of time and it will be a pain in the ass to clean.

I know you can find glass screens in many online headshops, so I'd suggest getting a stealth onehitter or perhaps a glass onehitter with a glass screen.

heres what you do, you can buy any metal pipe you want and then just buy a cap for the bowl, they are great cause you can stuff even more weed or hash in there and it typically hits better IMO. I think the Share the Pipe would be sweet with a cap on it if you could find one that matches.

Xenj, you further convinced me that the Raydiator is the best choice. Its core is titanium and thus clean, and it has an aluminum casing to dissipate heat (you indicated that aluminum is a relatively decent heat conductor - at least compared to other metals), and as you can see in the image above it has a swivel cover (that stays in place when closed, according to Fëanor). Now I'm excited.

I've also heard that the smoke it gives is so cool it's approved for medical use, but sadly I think it's just some BS the company feeds its distributors so they can sell their pipes more easily.

Hashish, solid! Its all I can get here. But its actually pretty good because it produces less smoke and is very compact.

You know you can just get a screen for ANY glass pipe and smoke hash, right? Just buy brass screens get a pack of like 100 for $5 and thats all ya need. (a pipe too)
