smoking in an apartment?

A while back I got caught smoking a joint. To make a long story short, the police were insanely lucky and the security guard, who tipped them off, was extremely good at what he did (had our full descriptions after a 1second glance at us from 200yards in the dark).

Since then I have moved into an apartment complex and have agreed with myself not to smoke regularly. But now the time feels right and I bought an 1/8 to have fun with. However, I am pretty paranoid about getting caught....yea I know everyone hates a noid stoner

My question is, if someone near me smells the weed when I am smoking it and for some odd reason calls the cops, are they allowed to search my room? Do they need a warrant, or is probable cause enough?

How about if I smoke it in the apartment? The living room is pretty far from a smoke detector, so how susbstantial must the smoke be to set it off (my apartment is about 2 years old)? I dont think I can turn the thing off, it is connected to the wall and have a 9v backup. Also, would a damp towel over it work, or would that make the detector freak out? What about a plastic bag?

My friend told me that "oust air santizer" practically erases the smoke smell....maybe just spray some of that while im doing it?

The apartments I live in are arranged in large 2 story blocks, each block has about 8 rooms in it. My apartment is on the front corner of a block, and our block is at the back of the complex.....i look off my balcony into empty lots and desert (AZ).....so its not like I am in the middle of tons of people.

Any suggestions based on person experience would be greatly appreciated!

I should also mention, I smoke cigars often on the balcony, and the people around have seen me doing it....so maybe when I smoke some bud they will just think its tobacco? And would a blunt mask the smell much?

if your that worried about other people you can, go in the bathroom turn the shower on really hot then smoke and blow the smoke out your exhaust fan

i've smoked in a few friend's apartments and i don't remember them ever saying the smoke alarm would go off. think of it this way there are people that smoke cigs in their houses and it doesn't go off.

I had the same issue for a couple months. Then i moved.

I was far from all parks, the other people living there were all yelling at me, etc.

Now i live in a leased house with a couple other people; Park is nearby and as long as im careful, my roomates and landlord wont mind me smoking in my room.

Dont worry. Ive smoked with people IN my house hwo dont know i sm oke and they were right next door sleeping.

Oust is the key.
(only works with bowls)

sit on your couch
Take a hit...cover bowl...spray some oust
Repeat.

Thats it.

Or ive also taken hits....and opened up a cabinet, and blown the smoke in there. Then i shut the cabinet trapping the smoke into it.

It defuses very quickly. Leaving no smell within 10 min.

sounds stupid, but it works. Especially if its just a storage cabinet (dont do it to a closet with clothes)

Yeah dude(s), don't worry about the smoke detector. If they were that sensitive they'd go off every time someone smoked a ciggarette.

Anyway I blaze in my apartment, I mean, maybe it's because I live in an area with lots of students but I mean I smell pot a lot just walking around the complexes so... I guess it depends on your area. No one around me cares, and the cops have better things to check out than some smell of pot.

If you're paranoid, light some insense. Then if the cops come to the door, hide your stash and say that the insense smell must be what tipped the neighbor off.

Yo dude honestly just smoke in your room your fine! i live in an apartment n my smoke detector has yet to go off and my room was baked out yesterday while i was milking my bong. Just dont smoke outside if u can smoke inside . I have oust it works great except for the fact when i spray it i have to make sure i shut my closet door so that the chemicals dont find there way in front of my fan n get pushed in my closet n end up settling onto my plant. Eww i wudnt wanna smoke outst YUCK! But dude if u smoke inside you'll be fine. Then when ur done smoking cracxk a window itll bring fresh air in n remove the smell out. Honestly if u wont be able to smell it when the air circulates to the outside.

I once had the cops called on us for the "smell of marijuana". Luckily for us the cops were nice. We had a pack of cigars sitting on the table and they said it smelled like a cigar and my roommate told them he had just smoked one. The smoke detector shouldn't ever go off from weed smoke, unless it is super sensitive. Get yourself some sweet smelling insence and burn that whenever you smoke. It will really cute down on the smell. Also, if you are super paranoid about it, get yourself a paper towel tube, stuff it with Bounce dryer sheets and always blow your smoke through it. I have found that cuts down on the smell a substantial amount. My old landlord knew that I smoked. (Different place than the one where the cops were called) He said that he didn't care as long as he couldn't smell it (he lived on the floor above me) and I used the tube. He could never smell it.

Are most smoke detectors really not sensitive enough to go off from cig/ weed smoke? I live in a dorm right now and I've been worried about any smoke may set off the alarm, when I was home I know just a extremely humid shower has set off my alarms, I don't know if it's different types or what.

Um, well, dorm alarms might be different although I know they used to allow smoking in a dorm I lived in, and the detectors never went off. Plus I smoked in the room anyway.

Humid air sets off any kind of smoke alarm, unfortunatly. That's why you never see smoke detectors in bathrooms, or at least if there is they must be a special kind.

you really dont have to worry about anything unless someone wil be coming in there like 10 min after you smoke, and me and my friends once tried to get the smoke alarm to go off and we couldnt even by blowing smoke right into the thing, one of my friends held a incence right below it and after a few min it finaly wnet off but that wasnt in a apt. u really have nothin to worry about

smoking in a dorm = a very bad idea. When you smoke in a closed space like that the smoke always finds a way out, no matter how much you try to keep it in. When I used to smoke in my friends room, no matter how hard we tried to keep the smoke in you could always smell it from outside the room. But it didnt really matter cuz his mom bought us the bong!!

im probably going to just smoke the J inside I guess. Spray some oust around, have my cigars out (yea I smoke em often). But honestly, if I am really paranoid when I do it, I never get a good high. That why I am being paranoid now so I can relax when i blaze.

On the subject of police. If they are called on me, are they allowed to search my room? Or will they need a warrant? Warrant take a day at least to get correct?

^^No one's gonna call the police dude, no one will even know. But to answer your question, warrants can be obtained in as little as 30 minutes. Hope that doesn't scare you.
