Negative side of smoking weed?

I've been smoking more than 15 years, and presently have no intention of stopping. Other than smoking the weed, I live pretty darn healthy...

But just for the sake of any newbies that might wander in, let's us veterans lay out the downside of smoking the weed. First I'll say that all-in-all, the upside outweighs the down. But anyway here are the negatives, as far as my experience goes...

1. Amotivational problems. Weed makes you amotivational (lazy as hell) for a day or so after smoking it...

2. Paranoia, if you're in the wrong setting or in the wrong mindset when you smoke... If you smoke a lot, a mild paranoia can even extend to a day or so after you smoke...

3. It can be a crutch. For example, if you smoke because you're bored and lonely, it will make things okay. So next time you're bored and lonely, you'll smoke, instead of actually doing something about it...

4. Adulteration. Weed, being illegal, is unregulated. So unless you grow it yourself, you can't be sure what you're getting.

5. Arrest. Goes without saying...

6. If you smoke after physical exertion, you'll have trouble falling asleep...

7. Bad breath, due to "cottonmouth". So brush your teeth (& tongue) after you toke before you go near your woman ...

Any others?

Loss of short term memory from time to time, basically you remember what you really need to, but most of the time you forget

Lung Damage is another one. And I guarantee you it is horrible for your brain if you do it like all the time. All those negatives won't be there if you use it resonsibly. Just be resonsible and you're fine.

It may depend on who you are but I dont suffer from laziness a day after or even an hour or two after smoking, I also dont have paranoia at all really, especially a whole day after I have smoked...

I think the biggest issue is the damage that we have done to our lungs. I dont care what anybody says, marijuana will cause a host of cancers, and that's a risk we take, as smokers do.

It's a sad reality that all these years of enjoying herb may very well end up with some of us dying a whitish blob with a machine breathing for us.

But it is a reality that newer generation smokers should seriously consider, consider how much and how often you smoke, consider you suseptibility to lung and cardiovasculsar diesease.

This is a big issue that alot of recreational pot smokings like in denile of.

Yes, you made a very good point. But, I doubt very seriously that any of us smoke as much marijuana compared to the tobacco smoked by tobacco users. Many tobacco users smoke up to 40 cigarettes or more in one day. I doubt any of us have ever smoked 40 joints in one day. The amount of smoke reaching our lungs is much less than that of your average tobacco smoker. I have a friend whos dad started smoking when he was 13 and has been smoking ever since. He is now 60 and has only a cough. Yes, his smoking has caught up with him, but my point is it would take a helluva lot longer for one of us to die of lung complications than tobacco smokers. But you do have a good point.

I think another negative side to us toking the good herb is that by smoking mary jane, we are looked down upon by mainstream society. But, I have never been lazy while smoking marijuana. I guess that just depends on the person. But I agree, the pros outweigh the cons by a fair amount.

Jah Bless

Tolerance isn't a problem for me at all. I can smoke a roach and be high practically all day. It's never taken much weed for me to get high.

Regarding the lung damage, aren't bubblers supposed to ameliorate that? I've been thinking of getting one for that specific reason...

=bubblers dont help much with lung damage, Im guessing you're thinking of vaporizers...vaporizers dont heat the herbs enough that they combust, only enough that they release chemicals in a vapour, rather than smoke. much less lung damage, and you get really high too! only downside is good vaporizers are expensive, and im not really up for carrying around a ghetto light bulb vape all day

humm...

my 2 cents after 31 years...

bad things...

Cost
availability
legalities...

Over the years an as recent as 2 yrs ago I have had regular chest Xrays...of all those Xrays the only time I was told my lungs looked "cloudy" was the time I had a very bad respiratory infection....All other doctors replied ..."you look fine"....when I asked how my chest looked....so....In my case....I have no problem lung damage thing..Nothing in comparasion to tobacco smoking... Im 280 lbs I dont get winded and I never get lightheaded from lack of breath.....Asa former nurse I know each person is different...there is a very good chance I am an exception in reguards to lung damage

My Memory is fine all the way back to kindergarten...I have no problem with high cognitive reasoning, arithmatic skills, and my fine motor skills are steady..

IMO the only things wrong with Marijuana are the three afore mentioned items in that order

Thanks for the info. I'm seriously going to check into getting a vaporizer then...
