Good weed = bad people

I probably could have just asked my question, but I had an experience about a week ago that I felt I should share first. It's kind of a long story, but here goes:

Last weekend, I took a trip with some family to Myrtle Beach and there was a hippy convention being held somewhere nearby. My aunt told us she knew a hippy that was going to the convention and he was staying at the same hotel as us. So she calls him up and we met up with him in his room for a smoking session. Now, from what I heard before about hippies is that they're basically cool ass, easy going tokers. So this guy starts spitting us his hippy wisdom and was telling us basically his life story, but the thing I remember most was he said he lives in his truck. So, in his room he had 3 friends with him, I was there with my mom and 2 aunts, one of which doesn't smoke. So here we are, 7 stoners waiting to smoke out this room, and he pulls out one of the thinnest joints I've ever seen. At first I didn't even want to hit it because I figured 7 heads on a needle joint wouldn't be worth it, but when the smell got in the air, I couldn't resist. It only got around the circle twice, but for only a few hits I had a pretty good buzz, definantly more than I could say of my green. So, I started talking to him and he said he pays $100 a quarter. I told him I thought that was WILD cause I pay $100 for an ounce, and since he had a bong out already, I pulled out some of my green. Then this guy switches in to asshole-mode and starts saying we shouldn't even bother smoking my weed because it wasn't good enough for him. Then one of his hippy friends in the room says something like "Why are we giving this young buck some of our good grass? Give the young ones Oregano, they don't know the difference." So, I'm confused because weed is supposed to make you feel more laid back and bring people together. Everyone that I know that smokes reggie are pretty good people and would never criticize anyone for their weed not being good enough. But, the guys I know that sell and smoke nugs have the same, "too-good-for-you" attitude, so my question is: does smoking better weed turn you into a cocky bastard or does the power trip of having weed that's generally better than what everyone else smokes make these people this way?

By the way - The reason I mentioned he lived in his truck is because that completely shattered my "Money Situation Theory", because how rich could you be if you live in your vehicle? Any insight would be appreciated.

The answer is easy. They're not hippies, they're assholes. They think they're special because they have dank weed? Whoop-dee-fuckin-doo! Tons of people smoke weed that will get you high after only a couple hits. But, it's only a few assholes like them that think they're better than everyone else because of it.

well, some people just can't stand regs. a lot of people favor quality highly. although he could have been nicer about it, and just smoked it. if one of my friends, or one of their friends is chilling with me, and they whip out shwag or regs, i'll just smoke it anyway. hey weeds weed.

well. correct me if i'm wrong but you don't sound TOO experienced when it comes to smoking. if you were you would know that his $100 is a fair price for a quarter. i think you might have schwag mixed up with kindbud.

schwag is the average type of weed...we call it quantity. you can get a lot of it for fairly cheap.

kindbud is the premium type of weed...we call it quality. you can get a little of it for a lot of money because it's more potent. it's seedless too.

there are all kinds of variations of weed, midgrade, etc. but it sounds like had kb compared to your schwag. his price was fair, but you insulted him by telling him it was too much. in return he got offended and basically scratched you off as an idiot newb not worth smoking with. he's a potsnob though. i can't stand dudes like him. luckily no one i know only smokes kb and won't hit less. they do worship kb a bit too much though.

You're right, I'm not a very experienced smoker, smoked off and on for about 3 years, and I started to smoke on a regular basis around a year and 1/2 ago. I may have worded it wrong on here, but I didn't have a negative tone towards him when I said his $100 quarter was wild, I meant it more like in amazement. I've paid $50 an 1/8 on a few occassions and I told him that, and I guess $50 for an eighth would translate to a $100 quarter but I've never bought that amount of green for that amount of money. But, yeah I'm guessing people like this were pricks BEFORE they started smoking and now are vanity smokers because good weed is just another something to brag about in their insecure minds.

Yeah they aren't real hippies. Im sure a real hippie wouldn't mind the the type fo bud just as long as its bud. Yeah he also lives in a truck... I think hes just a drug addict that lives in his truck because he spends all is money on drugs.

I dont want to give anyone the wrong idea here, I'm not anti-hippy or anything like that, the fact that the guy was a hippy was just a cool afterthought. My problem is with hippies, I'm not saying all hippies act like this. My problem is with these weed mongers who are stuck up about their bud. Other than when we were discussing weed quality, the guys were pretty cool to be around, and at the time I didn't even make a big deal out of it, just the trend I see with the nug dealers/smokers around where I live, the people on this forum who constantly brag about their weed or talk trash about people when they post pics of their inferior quality weed and this hippy incident. The only two constants are better weed and their disgusting attitudes about it.

the old hippy was pissed cause he probably only smokes high grade dank nugs. i do the same but it's because it's the only stuff i can get. why bother finding good mids when you can get top notch dank.

thats why you can smoke a skinnie as joint and get 7 people high if its ak47 or some good ass dank. the bud is better. you don't have to smoke as much to get u high. $100/qtr of high grade dank is still pretty standard. $50/eighth is a normal price (not for me tho ) too.

if u buy in bulk u can get o's for 250 usually.

I know people like that... One of my best smoking buds is like that, hes the only who ALWAYS has great weed.. And everyone feels the same about him, hes cool but can be in asshole mode on and off the reefer. He always trys to act straight, and cool. When you get weed thats not as good as his, he talks shit about it, but he still smokes it.. He's always trying to stay straight, even when hes way fucked up, i dont think he has any fun.. what's the point of being high when you cant act it?

It's just as easy to say, "nah man enjoy our stuff and save yours." then "Why are we giving this young buck some of our good grass? Give the young ones Oregano, they don't know the difference." I mean the differnence here is B_B was being considerate and trying to share. In our circle if you smoke someone else's, you then share some of yours. (of course there are some exceptions)

Not to mention if the guy was cool he probably would have shared why it was offensive instead of just being an asshole. Old stoners need to bring up the new stoners right, not create new assholes...
