Dose anyone know how to remove a computer fan? Could i use my ps2 fan for growin?

Is there a way to take out my computer fan and hook it up in my grow box without my computer... and if i bought one, how would i be able to hook it up to run without a computer


i seriously cant find any lil fans for my grow box. im about to put my PS2 in my grow box and just point its fan towards my grow, do u think this would wokr?

also, i got 2 compact flouros in my grow room, and i had them on for a lil wile and they got a, lil hot, what would happen if i had them on 24 seven? it could be the grow box


but could compact flouros like get to hot and explode or sumthin and explode?

i think the worst that can happen with a fluoro is that it will just pop.

all u have to do is take oof panel on side of tower, and remove screws to fan...and disconnect the power suppy cord, just remember which cord so u can put it back on.

on a side note: u might need to buy a static protector, so u dont shock ur computer, therefor destroying the whole thing.

a static protector, is a bracelet with some metal in it attached to a long wire which is grounded. in case u wanted to kno.

Sorry, but there's no way that ur compact floro's dont get hot, after being on for 2 wks.. My other hobby is reef tanks, and I know a shitload about compact floros (I manage 2 pet stores too)

U wont have a problem if the floro's get hot.. I run dual 96 watt PC's (36") over my planted fish tank, they get hot but they have never exploded.. Every PC that I have ever run has always gotten hot.. It's a lightbulb, it's going to get hot. What kinda ballast are u running them on, an electronic, or a magnetic??? An electronic ballast will run them a little cooler, but they still wont be cool to the touch or anything...

normal computer fans only flow about ~40 cfm. Ultra-quiet computer fans flow ~20 cfm. A high power computer fan (like the one I have the costs $20) flows ~80 cfm. You can find something else that will flow more. I've seen some other solutions at overgrow.com.

what he said, or go to a used computer store and get it for even cheaper, the used factor doesnt even matter beacuse u wont be using it for a computer, as long as it makes air flow

go here and search through the fans... get one with a lot of "cfm" (air flow)... 120mm sized fans would work pretty good i'd bet...

and dont bother trying to get out your ps2 fan.. it hardly pushes any air and wont do jack to cool off large light bulbs...
