Difference between stoner and a pothead

Pothead and stoner tend to be the two words thrown around most when describing a fellow pot smoker. Is there a difference, or are they interchangeable? What does it mean to you?

To me, a pothead is someone who really enjoys the culture of ganja and smokes on the weekends, maybe a few times a week, but overall is all about the experience and having fun. they don't always smoke to get stoned, but just to get high, and occasionally stoned. This is what I'm like.... I would describe myself as a pothead.

My brother however, I would describe as a stoner. He smokes pot everyday and gets stoned everyday. He's been doing it for years, and just really loves pot. In my eyes, a stoner is a pothead, but a pothead might not be a stoner.

I just pulled this shit outa my ass, perhaps I missed the toilet.....

Same thing to me anyways i dont see a diffrence , whatever someone does on their own time is their bussnis and i dont like to categorize people when it comes to smokeing , just toke up and have a good time and do as you please to do .

I kinda would say the opposite...

stoner - someone who enjoys smoking, getting stoned, etc...
pothead - someone who lets pot take over his head (like the word), so it wouldn't be positive...I think of it as an insult.

Either could be insults the way i see it depends on whose saying it and in what context. There are also many stereotypes that go with pothead and stoner and im sure you all already know them so im not gonna take the time to write them.

Well if that holds true everyone I hang with is a flat out stone cold stoner. We all smoke at least 2 grams a day and on more active days it hits 5 or more.

Personal 1/8ths lasting more then a day is sorta a running joke with the lot of 'em.

the way i see it...

pothead- someone who smokes pot regularly.

stoner- someone who smokes pot regularly, loves the subculture behind it, has ideals similar to the rave scenes PLUR (peace, love, unity, respect). when "passing the peace pipe" to settle differences actually has signifigance. along those lines...

so its kinda like the whole all squares are rectangles but not all rectangles are squares.

I'm a smoker. I sometimes smoke alla day all week, sometimes I don't smoke for 12-24 hours.

I get completly completely smoked very rarely, I rather maintain the thc level in my blood above zero at all times.

I don't mind stoner, dont like pothead, and am even offended by it.
to me, stoner is someone who loves pot and everything associated with it.
pothead is someone who loves pot and everything associated with it as well, but is willing to sell people out for it, or steal shit to pay for it, and so on.

Didn't you see "HALF BAKED" they smoke everyday or anytime they can and it even lables them as potheads. IMO they are both pathetic and are duragatory stereotypes that the preppy bitches label tokers.

Yeah, to me a stoner is anyone who smokes on a semi-regular basis.

A pothead is a person who does it everyday and gets into the subculture and so-on.

Nothing derogatory about either, and you can vascillate between the two or, if you say, stop, you can cease to fall into either category. I don't think I've ever applied the "labels" to anybody but myself and my buds who smoke, and its generally to say that when we do it everyday for weeks at a time we are potheads but otheriwse we are just stoners. Except this one guy, hes just a fulltime pothead. But thats what so great about him, he rounds out the group very well.

alright heres how i see it. A stoner is somebody who smokes only the best stuff they can find and buy it in large quanites. While a pothead will smoke anything and everything that could get him high and they usually buy small amounts like a dime or a nick.
