homemade bong guide

I was at home sick on thursday... and i thought that a few hits from the bong might make me feel better. but, i didn't even have a bong. so, i made one. then i came back to the computer and ended typing this guide up.

you want a bong plain and simple. what's stopping you? don't have the cash to buy one? out in the middle of nowhere with hardly anything around you? stuck in the house without access to a headshop? whatever the reason, I think that this guide will realize your dreams to have a bong. If this guide is slightly incoherent, I am sorry, but I am quite high.

materials/procedure:

water bottle
The size of the bottle is variable. you can do this with a humongous bottle or a miniature one. but, some sizes work better than others. It's better that the bottle be plastic so as to facilitate opening of carb/stemhole. Other materials may work, but make sure they're not flammable and can be drilled through by you. the carb is the place where you put your fingers to regulate where the airflow is coming from. the stemhole is where we put the stem(read next para for info on this one). I used a plastic 1 litre Sparkling lemonade bottle from shoppers.

bong stem and bowl
the bong stem is a tube (should be non-flammable, or meltable like plastic). it goes outside to meet the bowl which is where you put your weed. if it is a standard metal bowl, you should put a screen in there so as to not lose your weed to the water. I have a green bowl/stem set, and they're maybe... 7 inches? not sure. Anyhow, when you're making the bong, you have to burn/cut a hole in the bottle for the stem. for the bowl, don't use aluminum, and for the stem, don't use plastic.

lighter/matches
this is what you would use to burn the hole in the bottle. simply take the flame up to a point approximately 2/5 the way up the bottle. it should first warp, then start to fizzle away. as soon as the fizzling starts, reduce the proximity of the flame, then push the stem through so as to ensure a nice airtight fit.
a lighter also would be great to light those buds you're just about ready to smoke.
btw, use a lighter if you can. torches are great for making the stemhole. regular bic style lighters are great to light the bowl of ganja with.
if you want, you could just cut the hole, but sometimes that's not possible, like in my case where the plastic was too thick for my crappy blade.

water (+ice)
Water is the filtration device used in bongs. you should get water going up to around an inch below the carb/stemhole. if you could, get a sandwich bag and something you could crush it with(meat cleavers work fine). stick the ice in the sandwich bags and then smash it up. put the ice/water into the bong. you're almost ready to go.

greens
this is the most important part of this recipe. you see, you can't really get high without the intoxicants. take a nug, and either just stick it in the bowl, or chop it up a bit then put it in. or, you could just stick a joint into the stem. whatever you want to do.

take your lighter.
ready your thumb.
hold the bong with one finger over the carb. (this is to ensure that you pull only from the stem.)
look down.
fire it up!

preety good guide the steam/bowl is always the hardest to make because you got to find some thing that wont melt and produce harmfull chemicals i take my spoon and duck tape it to a pen tube this way the penn wont melt because its to far a wawy and you dont have to worry about finding a bowl

I've never smoked from a bong but i have a question. A bong is pretty much a pipe sticking out of a bottle right? When i light my bud...wont the smoke just go straight up and not into my bong? Please clear this up for me.

What happens is you pull the smoke through the water. I'm not completely sure how this works, but when you suck, the decreased pressure inside the chamber will pull the smoke through the stem and through the water. The water cools and filters the smoke. And then you get high.

I never really thought about it i just always guessed that once u lit and inhaled it burned the herb and it went into the water to get filterd and evaporated up or some shit then u let go of the carb and it all goes in oh well im baked hitting a home ade piece peps bottle lol with pen tube stem and a big socket for the bow [metal with screen] hits ok i gues

you burn the ganja. sucking in creates a vacuum inside the chamber. there's no place for the air to come from except for from the stem. so, it does. it goes through the stem into the water. the smoke, being lighter than water, rises, going into the part of the bottle above the water. you're sucking in from the top... that's where the smoke is headed.

The Ice makes it magnificent. I have a little 4" tall bong i got at a gas station, i fill it with ice cold water and it makes the rips sooooo nice, also, if you want to try something else, put in ice and milk, you wont be disapointed

Thats a good guide man thats exactly how I did mine. My question is are you supposed to put the bottom of the stem under water or not? i've done both and I find putting the stem under water gets you really high. I'm asking this because I keep getting different answers from different people.

Put the tip of the stem under water, thats the point of the bong i believe. The water will cool and filter the smoke for you, bigger hits

Use a garden hose for the stem and a socket for the bowl, get something to seal all the cracks so your hits will be better. Ive made some awesome ass bongs.
