smoke in your lungs

I am confused, when you take a hit from a bong, the smoke is cooled through the water, why do you still cough after taking a large hit? I thought the bong water would cool the smoke enough to make you not feel it. Is the smoke still hot after you take a hit and is that why you still feel that pain in your lungs?

I guess my real question is: Is the pain in your lungs from the smoke being hot, or just from HAVING smoke in your lungs? Im such a noob

i think its a little both...

the smoke will naturally irritate your lungs.. foreign objects blah ect. but heat also plays a small factor in messin with your lungs. But if you use a bong, you can, in theory take a larger hit because the water cools the smoke, and also can get rid of some toxins in the smoke that would make you cough.

Soooo, cooler smoke + cleaner smoke = bigger hit x 10 more hits x 4 tripple shots x pink floyd =

I'm surprised nobody has pointed out the quality of the piece yet.

For example, a Coke bottle bong will not hit nearly as smooth as a nice thick, tall glass bong.

Does the smoke not expand also? making you cough no matter how you take a big hit?

i use pop bottle bongs all the time in fact i like using them better lol maybe its just me but i like to fill it with part coke part water and then the smoke tastes like coke its cool lol
