Nitrate solvent in my Pipe, Need HELP!
Last week I loaned my blown glass bat to a friend. When he returned it, I noticed two things.
1. It was remarkably clean.
2. It smelled like nitrate solvent.
After intensive interrogation and good old fashioned polygraph test, I determined that he had lodged a seed in the pipe, then used a GUN CLEANING KIT to get it out (Note: he didn't actually put the solvent on the bore brush before running it through the pipe, though the brush was previously contaminated). I am now afraid of smoking out of my beloved piece, for fear of inhaling fumes far more noxious than that of cannabis. This is where you come in. Is there any way i can get the solvent out of my pipe, or should i just junk it and buy another one (maybe make my friend pay for it, or better yet, make him smoke out of it)? Or, am i overreacting? Is the pipe still usable as is?
BTW, I held the pipe over a candle flame for several miniutes, only to watch black flames spew out. I think thoroughly rinsed the pipe, but the smell is still there.
