hold a lighter under a piece of foil, it gives off some nasty smoke.

thats more than a good enough reason to not.

i am to believe that any sort of "smoke" given off by holding a lighter to foil is actually given off by the lighter. Butane doesn't burn completely, which is why you get soot, which is what i imagine you're looking at.

you can put a hole in foil with a torch, though.

and yeah, there's nothing wrong with using non-coated aluminum for smoking.

i used foil pipes in high school when it was all that was available. i never melted foil, but i had bowls catch on fire. if you want to smoke out of a cheap ass, nasty tasting pipe that may or may not be harmful go for it. you're better off sticking with zig zag's. since when was an aluminum pipe appealing enough to research whether or not it's bad for you?
