My closest encounters w/ the Grateful Dead

Yesterday, students and teachers were told by the principal that there is a surprise assembly for the last two periods of the day tomorrow (which was today, Thur). Teachers had an after school meeting to be briefed on the occaision. Three keyboardists from the Grateful Dead were swinging by and are able to perform for us!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My math teacher had promised me he woudl tell me what the secret assembly was the day after the meeting, and when he did I was obviously in denial. Thought he was just getting me cranked up. He shat me not, I was in an auditorium come 1pm and full keyboards and amps and a huge projection screen was set up.

Three wrinkly dudes w/ there mouths agaped to the floor and weathered eyes came in and got right to business. Instead of trying to work in an educational message (as ALL speakers do when they speak for us, don't do drugs, stay in school, be involved in the community), these dudes sat down and said "we are part of the Grateful Dead. We'd like to perform a few songs for you."

Between songs, he'd mention a little bit about life on tour, even slipping in hilariously cheesy jokes such as: What do you get when you cross an agnostic dyslexic insomniac? A man staying up all night contemplating if there's a dog.

A grasshopper hops into a bar and the bartender says to him "hey we have a drink named after you!" and the grasshopper goes, "You have a drink named Kevin?"

Folks, did you know if you lined up all the Jack Russel Terriers in the world end to end....they'd love it?

Very enthusiastic and interesting dudes.

Wow, just looking back at what I wrote...it seems like it's a dream but it ain't!

And that's about it....Oh yeah, I got blazed the second I got home...

I wish I could have talked to them but they weren't able to...Is Jerry Garcia's ashes reaaaalllly on the moon? Or is it true that they use his ashes in the soil to make a new strain of cannabis, "Jerriuana"....Oh the wonders of the world.

Oh yeah!! They had their keyboard hooked up to a projector so that every musical note corresponded w/ making a different visual on this huge screen. There were famous paintings, trippy artwork, fractals, etc.

Pretty cool, huh?

Pretty cool. I met Jerry Garcia once. We got high and talked for hours. Then a blue whale came into my kitchen and started mixing drinks. Oh, wait, that was a dream. Shit.

Fuck Man! That's awesome. Nothing even remotely cool has ever happened at my school. Let alone having part of the grateful dead play. I live up north, nothing good could ever happen.
